Interests & Hobbies

I love to be outdoors. I enjoy camping, hiking and biking in the mountains. I have recently taken an interest in photography.

Why did you choose Meterology?

I was always excited about thunderstorms and the rare snowstorms we would experience in the Southeast. When I was in sixth grade a local meteorologist visited my classroom. Once I heard how exciting his job was, I made the decision that weather was for me.

Q: Why I love Winter:

A: I have mixed feelings about winter. I love snow!! Probably because I grew up in the Southeast. When we had a few flurries it was a holiday from school. My most vivid winter memory is "The Blizzard of 1993". We had over 20 inches of snow in my home town. I believe that we were out of school for at least one week. In fact, part of my high school's roof collapsed from the weight of the heavy wet snow. I have only experienced one white Christmas. This was when my family lived on mountain 2,000 feet above the valley floor. I called all my friends and asked them if they wanted to go sleding..they said we have rain. Living in the higher elevations made for some interesting winter weather! The cold fronts would cross the mountain like a beast! I have to admit that numerous days of rain and clouds can lead to me having Spring Fever. This usually happens around early March. I feel that my winter is complete once we have at least one snow!
