Sure, the Super Bowl had its share of jaw-dropping moments, but there were plenty of other memorable performances besides the amazing, nail-biting matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. (Which was awesome, by the way.)

Check out some of the action on and off the field in our Performers and Parties gallery.

Cops Ruin Tommy Lee's Joy Ride

Some air jockeys have God as their copilot. But one unlucky dude chose Tommy Lee, and the results weren't exactly auspicious.

The Mötley Crüe man and a buddy were tooling around the Southern California skies in a helicopter Sunday morning when they allegedly decided to do the aerial equivalent of donuts in front a police chopper.

"[The pilot] was flying rather erratically, and he did get close to one of our helicopters,'' said LAPD Officer Karen Smith. "The tower over the area was concerned about his flying, too."

Faster than you could say Dr. Feelgood, the high-flying duo was forced to land at the closest airport. Lee's pilot pal, whose identity was not immediately revealed, was then hauled in to the LAPD's Van Nuys station, given a breath test and released without charge, pending the results. (Per TMZ, the pilot claimed he had a drink after landing.)

As for Lee, who was riding shotgun, "he had nothing to do with the situation, so he was just released," Smith said.

Cute couple Blake Lively and Penn Badgley do everything together...including root for Super Bowl teams.

"We're rooting for the Cardinals definitely all the way because they're going to win!" Blake said at the DirectTV Celebrity Beach Bowl.

"It's a good story for the underdog to win," echoed Penn. Although he admitted he's not a football jock, Penn played in the tag football game (and scored a touchdown) along with co-star Chace Crawford, while Blake played cheerleader from the sidelines.

But Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian weren't afraid to get in the game...Kim's boyfriend Reggie Bush coached their team to a win over the Gossip guys and the Madden brothers!

Before she hit the field, Khloe dished on how she's doing since her breakup with Rashad McCants...

Taken, Paul Blart Best Renée Zellweger, Oscar Films

Taken Stephanie Branchu/20th Century Fox

It was a bad weekend to be an A-list actress or a Best Picture nominee. It was a good weekend—for the third weekend running—to be Paul Blart.

Kevin James' surprising Paul Blart: Mall Cop slipped to No. 2 in the box office standings, but picked up another $14 million, its studio estimated, and raised its haul to $83.4 million. Overall, the new Liam Neeson thriller, Taken, led all films with $24.6 million.

As for one Renée Zellweger and those five Oscar hopefuls…?

Slumdog Top Dog at DGA Awards

Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto Fox Searchlight
More from 2009_oscars

There's a reason oddsmakers don't think Slumdog Millionaire is an Oscar underdog. It's not.

The India-set indie cemented its front-runner status with a win Saturday night for Danny Boyle at the 61st Annual Directors Guild of America Awards.

The Office, The Wire, Recount and America's Next Top Model were among the honorees in the TV categories.

Boyle beat out David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon) and Gus Van Sant (Milk), all of whom he'll face at the Oscars, plus Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), whom he won't.

Since 1948, the DGA winner has only missed out on the Oscar six times. Half of those instances, however, have occurred since 1995. Ang Lee is the last DGA winner to win Best Director and not see his film (2005's Brokeback Mountain) win Best Picture, too.

Slumdog's DGA win comes one week after it claimed top prizes from the producers and actors guilds.

Carl Reiner, who was to host tonight's ceremony, was a last-minute scratch (food poisoning, Variety reported). Jon Cryer was a last-minute substitute.

Twittering With the Stars: The DGA Red Carpet

Before Slumdog Millionaire picked up another win last night at the Directors Guild of America Awards for Danny Boyle, there was the star-studded red carpet.

I was there trying something new. I was twittering. It’s almost like liveblogging, but instead of happening in my column at E! Online, my tweets (that’s what they call Twitter posts) are over at my Twitter profile page.

But knowing not all of y’all are Twitter folks, I’ve put all my DGA tweets together for you right here. And in the spirit of keeping it as authentic as possible, I have not corrected misspellings, wrong grammar and other such blips (including when they were cut off at the 140-character max). I apologize to our copy editors, but I’m told that’s the charm of Twitter. It may not be perfect, but as one reader commented, “I feel like I was there with you…bomb-sniffing dogs, Amy Adams, Marisa, Josh Brolin, and I got to experience it all from home!”

It all started at about 5:30 p.m. Hollywood time...

A judge finalized the divorce from his wife of more than five years, Cynthia, on Jan. 12 in Florida's Miami-Dade County Court, stating the marriage is "irretrievably broken." The once-happy couple have two daughters.

The pair made headlines last year when they split amidst rumors of A-Rod's infidelities and a relationship/obsession with Madonna.

Despite not being spotted publicly recently, Rodriguez, 33, and the Material Mom, 50, are rumored to have spent last weekend together at Jerry Seinfeld's East Hampton home.
