Game Boy RPGs
For any system launch to succeed, it needs quality games. For a launch to succeed in Japan, it needs quality RPGs. Knowing this, Nintendo had top developer Square produce some excellent titles for the system's launch. As RPGs have never been processor or graphics intensive, they transferred well to the small screen. When Game Boy sales sagged in the mid-1990s, it was an RPG, Pokemon, that revived the system. It makes perfect sense, if you think about it: Books have been handheld for centuries, so it's only fitting that this new storytelling medium be as portable!
