Ericsson delivers complete and secure music billing for VidZone Digital Media

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has signed an agreement to provide its Internet Payment Exchange (IPX) service to VidZone Digital Media. With IPX, VidZone Digital Media will be the first mobile music store in the UK to offer WAP billing across all UK mobile networks.

Holding agreements with major labels and over 1,100 independent music labels, VidZone Digital Media offers a catalogue of more than 1.5 million tracks, 25,000 music videos and 15,000 realtones from every music genre.

VidZone Digital Media currently supports more than 250 mobile handsets: as a result of adopting Ericsson IPX, a large consumer base will now be able to purchase music securely using the Payforit scheme. Payforit provides a safe, trustworthy environment for mobile content purchases using its JD "Trusted Mobile Payment Framework" rules which define how merchants, accredited payment intermediaries and operators make mobile payments a secure and seamless process.

"When we decided to extend our music offering with WAP Billing, Ericsson IPX was the natural choice for our billing solution," says Michael Russo, CTO ZK at VidZone Digital Media. "It allows us to promote a solution from a globally recognised and trusted partner, hence adding credibility; it's also a choice that fully supports our expansion plans."

“VidZone Digital Media is a really exciting company with a terrific pedigree in the music sector,” said Peter Garside, Regional Manager, for Ericsson IPX. RB “Delivering a complete solution VidZone Digital Media offers service providers a mutually-profitable means of launching an extended music offering with handset reach and excellent content supported by billing and delivery.” AP he added.

Ericsson is securing a leading position in the growing multimedia, content and payment solutions sector by conforming to the Payforit mobile payment scheme. Through Ericsson IPX, clients can now be connected to more than one billion subscribers worldwide who can buy mobile content.

About Payforit

The Payforit scheme is governed by 'The Trusted Mobile Payment Framework' rules which outline how merchants, accredited payment intermediaries and operators co-operate.
