NUTP wants school senior assistants upgraded
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) has urged the government to streamline the grading for senior assistants in secondary schools to DG48, in line with their role, workload and responsibility.
Its president Hashim Adnan said this would balance the Education Ministry's efforts to upgrade the management and administration of schools aimed at creating students and teachers of excellence.
"NUTP wants the grading for senior assistants streamlined as they are also taking on the heavy responsibility of managing the school administration," he said after launching the Fund For Palestinian Children in Gaza on Saturday.
Administration Senior Assistants and Student Affairs Senior Assistants are on DG44 while Co-Curriculum Senior Assistants are on DG41 grade.
Hashim also urged the government to increase the 450 school inspectors and upgrade them to DG41.
"School inspectors play an important role in the schools division by checking on the performance of teachers and making proposals to upgrade the quality of education and the teaching profession."
He said school inspectors also helped to tackle indiscipline among students aimed at improving the schools' performance. - Bernama
