thescp---Chris Daughtry went nowhere? Jennifer Husdon? Kellie Pickler? Clay Aiken? David Cook? All of them are doing very well for themselves and it was all due to their appearence on American Idol. Hell, even William Hung became a household name. The whole purpose of the show (other than raking in mountains of money) is to give aspiring singers a platform to showcase their talent (or in some cases, their lack thereof). The only reason they stick around on the show is because millions of people are voting for them. If millions of fans want to hear them, let them.

Sanjaya was horrible, but the scandal lasted a long time.

American Idol is the worst show ever. If you want your career to skyrocket as a singer, do it the real way and don't win a contest. Besides, everyone but the first person and for some reason Carrie Underwood has been successful. Everyone else has gone nowhere. If anything, the people who came in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th are successful. So either do it the real way, or come in 2nd-4th in the competition. Dingle where do you live? Mars? This show has some kind of form in nearly every country.

I agree that Sanjaya was not a scandal. It was gossip and a phenomena but no one hacked in and skewed the votes or anything.

Some of you need to learn how to read before posting. The question wasn't "What contestant was the biggest crime?", but "Which was the best scandal?". No matter what you think of Sanjaya, his staying on longer than he should have wasn't a scandal at all. Corey Clark making accusations against Paula and leaving the show definitely was.

I voted for Frenchie because she got jobbed. First, she wasn't "nude" she was topless. Diff? Go to Vegas and try to find a show without topless dancers! Big deal. I wonder what would have happened... no doubt Frenchie would make Top 10/12, would it still have been Ruben vs Clay? We'll never know because of a knee-jerk reaction from Nigel Lythgoe.

Actually, the multiple voting thing allows the number of hits to the site be artificially inflated, allowing CBS to charge more for their ad rates. The more you vote, the more money CBS makes.

The Corey Clark fiasco was a tip of the iceberg kind of thing, there has been several reports of Paula laying claim to contestants. The Sanjaya episode was directly related to the Stern Show when he assisted a website in accumulating votes to keep him in the competition just to show the power of Sirius radio listeners.

I think the multiple voting thing is supposed to mimic the Idol voting process.
