Jonah Hill Puts On Viking Horns For ‘How To Train Your Dragon’

Jonah HillReporting by Jasmine Rencher

When a fast-rising star hits it big, moviegoers can expect a flood of films with the actor. Sometimes this can be a bad thing (see Dane Cook).

In the case of “Superbad” breakout Jonah Hill, however, those who like to laugh can’t get enough of a good thing — and with “Strange Wilderness,” “Horton Hears a Who” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” behind him, 2008 has probably already allowed us to see and hear Jonah more than his family does. But don’t think it ends there, as the 24-year-old actor is already working on several 2009 films, as well as one for 2010.

“It’s like a ‘Shrek’ type of movie, or like ‘Kung Fu Panda,’” Hill revealed about the project he’s currently working on, entitled “How to Train Your Dragon.” “It’s an awesome animation movie.” Read more…

Seth Rogen Jokes About ‘The Hills’ In New Stand-Up Act

Did you hear the one about the internationally known comic who watches “The Hills”? There’s no punch line to that, by the way. “That’s the joke,” Seth Rogen laughed, “the fact that I watch the f–king ‘Hills.’ ”

It’s actually not just one joke, but a bunch of jokes. And if you’re lucky enough to be at the right L.A.-area comedy club this summer, you might hear ‘em all, Rogen said. In preparation for the new Judd Apatow movie about the world of stand-up comedy, he’ll be trying out a bunch of new material. His best stuff? Well, Spencer, Heidi and a rabbi walk into a bar …

“I haven’t done [stand-up] in almost eight or nine years,” he confessed. “I’ve been writing some jokes. They’re varying degrees of hilarious, [and the best stuff] is some ‘Hills’ jokes. I’m just writing on premises — I haven’t really flushed it out yet.

“I watched the sh-t out of ‘The Hills.’ I don’t know what else to say,” he continued. “I watch the living crap out of it.” Read more…

Russell Brand Nixes Autobiographical Pic, Re-Teams With Jonah Hill For ‘Greek’

American audiences may have just been introduced to Russell Brand thanks to a scene-stealing performance in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” but the British comic is quite well known in his native land. No, REALLY well known, after Brand wrote a “warts and all” autobiography, “My Booky Wook,” which chronicled his rise to fame and his subsequent drug addictions.

Brand would like to keep it that way (the part about Americans not knowing about his past, that is), telling MTV News that he’s decided not to move forward with a movie adaptation of “Booky Wook,” which was to be directed by “24 Hour Party People” helmer Michael Winterbottom.

“I’m not going to make the Booky Wooky into a film anymore because then people in America will learn what my past is like. [Of course],people that can be bothered to read will know that I have a checkered past,” he laughed. “Fingers crossed, we give them a book I’ve written already, I don’t have to do no more homework!” Read more…

EXCLUSIVE: Jonah Hill Responds To ‘Transformers 2’ Rumors, Extends ‘Jump Street’ Offer To Johnny Depp

Jonah HillDespite contrary reports from earlier this week, Jonah Hill won’t be in the new “Transformers” movie. But he SHOULD be.

That’s my opinion, anyway, after the 24-year-old “Superbad” star told MTV News why he ultimately turned down the blockbuster project.

“I just think like I have to prove myself more in what I’m doing now, making comedies and stuff before I do the big action movie or something, you know? I’m not proven yet,” Hill confessed. “I’ve only been in one movie that people have seen that I’ve been the lead in so like, um, I could still suck in people’s minds, they don’t know yet!” (After the jump, more on “Transformers” and see him talk “Jump Street” on video!) ‘Transformers 2’ Producer Talks Casting, Sinks Aircraft Carrier Rumors

'Transformers'Recently, the news broke that Jonah Hill won’t be rolling out in “Transformers 2” after all. It’s sad, sad news for movie fans hoping the sequel would get a legitimate comedic-sidekick injection rather than, say, filling the role with Dax Shepard.

According to series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the movie has had to move on without the “Superbad” star – but we can still expect some big announcements over the next several weeks.

“No, no,” he said of Hill’s reported casting. “Ultimately, we’ll have a couple casting surprises for everybody soon.”

Director Michael Bay and returning stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Jon Voight are reportedly on board to return, and Bonaventura confirmed plans to start shooting the movie in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania next month. Read more…
