February 13, 2009 - Apparently most teens are either lying or we were just overachievers in our high school years, but according to a new poll, the majority of teens spend an average of 7.25 hours a month looking at online adult content. Could this number possibly be right? So that means that only 87 hours a year are spent surfing through porn sites. Only two-work weeks worth of porn viewing? To us, porn viewing is a part time job at the very least, which is why were logging 20 hours a week bare minimum. More »
February 13, 2009 - Blockbuster announced today that they are expanding their Total Access service to include video game rentals. Total Access is Blockbusters Netflix-esque division that offers a movies-by-mail program for those that don't want to spend the time visiting an actual rental store outlet. The expansion is most likely an effort to try and distance themselves from companies like Netflix and Gamefly by offering the dual services of their competitors in one single package. More »

February 12, 2009 - Earlier this week rumors began to circulate about an impending announcement from Pioneer regarding the dissolution of its HDTV division. While there was plenty of writing on the wall to support the rumors, such as consistent quarterly losses and slumping sales, we had hoped that the company's highly acclaimed Kuro series plasmas would be able to weather the economic storm. In lieu of dwindling market conditions and substantial losses, Pioneer's hand was forced and today announced a drastic operational restructuring that includes a complete withdrawal from the flat-panel display industry. February 11, 2009 - One of the biggest selling points of the PlayStation 3 has always been its status as the world's cheapest Blu-ray player, but this year the console was dethroned by a number of sub-$300 standalone players. With one of its most crucial marketing strategies lost, Sony must now find new ways to emphasize the PS3's place as a feature-packed competitor in the home-entertainment space. Although the PS3 does feature a somewhat daunting MSRP, its price is more than justified by its capabilities for both state-of-the-art high-definition gaming and Blu-ray video playback; a combination Sony hopes to capitalize on later this year. February 11, 2009 - Welcome to "This Week In Apps," a weekly feature column that spotlights the latest and greatest from Apple's iTunes App Store. In order to effectively delineate the useful from the rubbish, IGN Gear will pick several of our favorites from the week's releases. Our criterion for how we select the apps will vary from week to week; some apps may be interesting and helpful, others might be completely nonsensical yet hilarious. To add an extra bit of commentary, the apps featured in this column will also be discussed on IGN Gear's weekly podcast, Tech Fetish. This week includes radio streaming, gym apps, and repair shop directories. More »

February 11, 2009 - As one of the few consumer electronics companies that upholds a regular annual release schedule, Apple is by far the most consistent. Apple has introduced a new line of iPods and Macbooks every fall for the last three years. With the release of the iPhone in summer 2007 and the 3G version in 2008, we could very well be feasting our eyes, ears, and hands on the iPhone 3.0 as early as June of this year, but amidst all of the rumors and speculation, we've compiled a list of our own wishes for the latest (and hopefully greatest) iPhone. February 10, 2009 - We've expressed our love for custom PCs and consoles in the past, and typically we only showcase the manly themed mods. However, there does exist a secret race of female gamers out there that want their game gear to look just as awesome as the boys, and while trying to find one of these girls is like finding a unicorn, we're fairly confident they exist. So today we're appealing to that .1% of IGN readers (and half of the IGN Wii team) that prefer cuddly animals and pink palettes over killer aliens and gunmetal grey. Behold the ultimate in girlish gaming, the Hello Kitty Xbox 360. More »
