The Wildlife and Habitat Protection section defends all wild animals, both captive and free, from cruelty and avoidable suffering, from exploitation, or from threats to their survival or well-being. Our work embraces all creatures, from backyard squirrels to black bears.
Our programs operate on many levels: We partner with communities to arrive at humane solutions to human-wildlife conflicts, lobby the federal government to increase protection for endangered species, and combat dangerous trade practices at international meetings.
The HSUS's Urban Wildlife Sanctuary Program (UWSP) provides individuals and communities the opportunity to assess and improve their property's usefulness as a wildlife habitat. more
