If you want to know what's going on in Age of Conan before everyone else, you might want to boomark [Craig "Silirrion" Morrison's Twitter page]. Craig actually calls this his 'evil teasing' experiment. Kind of like when Funcom promised bar brawling. I kid I kid!

AoC Update 1.04 Hitting Live Tomorrow!  [ 1 Comment ]
Print News | Category: Official News
The time has come for Age of Conan update 1.04! The update this week will be relatively large for some users. Funcom has enabled new code that ensures any corrupt data is corrected by the patcher. This is vitally important to prevent client crashes and related issue and will mean users experience less issues in the future. It does mean though that when it goes live some users may get a larger patch size as the system repairs any corrupt data you may have as a result of previous crashes or client issues.

Expect servers to be down for about 6 hours tomorrow, starting at their usual times of 7AM EST for US and 5AM GMT (EU). Yeehaw! Update notes will follow.

Happy Gum Drop Day! Probably a very old observance, as not much comes in "drop" form these days. More like hunka wads. It's also Singles Awareness Day. Right, I think we're already aware, anything else for us today? Nope. Figures. Oh wait, if you're in to some sort of feast of purification then you can go with Candlemas. Hrm, I wonder which foods make you pure. :o Famous birthdays for today include Michael Easton (42), Matt Groening (55), Jane Seymour (58) and Susan B. Anthony (189). Do that thing you do!

On this day in history...

  • 0399 - Philosopher Socrates sentenced to death.
  • 1903 - 1st Teddy Bear introduced in America, made by Morris & Rose Michtom.
  • 1931 - 1st Dracula movie released.
  • 1955 - 1st pilot plant to produce man-made diamonds announced.

New Testlive Patch Notes  [ Comment ]
Print News | Category: Official News
Age of Conan Update 1.04 continues to grow with another round of changes on the Testlive server. Here are the latest notes:

GENERAL
  • Made several improvements to the Warlord Repadis encounter in Xibaluku.
  • Fixed some causes of crashing.
  • General improvements made to encounters in the Slaughterhouse and the Cradle of Decay.

    COMBAT
  • When charmed by an npc, you will always move with jogspeed, regardless of crowd control abilities that slow you down.
  • Players who are being knocked back will no longer be able to enter Spellweaving until they get back up.
  • Necromancers will no longer automatically receive the Spellweaving buff window upon entering Spellweaving state. The chance to receive this buff window is now equal to that of all other Spellweaving classes.

    GUI
  • You now get a confirmation popup to verify you really want to loot bind on equip items.
  • Waypoints for the new dungeon areas (Xibaluku, Slaughterhouse, Cradle of Decay) have been added to the worldmap and local maps.

    PVP
  • Con range has been changed to 8 (meaning that you can now attack players 8 levels lower than you without getting murder points or criminal status).
  • Players' nametags should show as gray only if they DO give you murderpoints for killing them. Low level players' tags should change to red if they attack you, and back again after about a minute.
  • When attacking a target with melee or spells, the damage will no longer splash to nearby targets, unless either of the following is true:
-The current target will also give murderpoints.
-The splash target has previously been attacked by you.
-The splash target will not give you murderpoints.
Thus, when being attacked by a single member of a low level group, that members' nametag should change from gray to red. During the time at which the tag is red, you can freely attack that member, and the damage should not splash to the other players in the group. If you at some point change your mind and attack other (innocent) players of the group, the damage should splash to all nearby targets and keep on doing so even if you go back to your original red-tagged target.

    PVP Minigames
  • Capture the Skull: It's no longer possible to overwrite the carrying skull debuff by using Last Stand.

Happy V-Day! A couple of years ago I decided that V-Day would be a tribute to the television mini-series called "V", I stand by that decision. So grab a big 'ole rat and chow down! Today is also Ferris Wheel Day. "V" Day Birthdays include Meg Tilly (49) ie. the tramp that had a baby with my Colin Firth, and Florence Henderson (75). I guess there won't be much love in Hyboria today. Unless maybe you play on a RP server. /Shiver. Enjoy your day and weekend!

Happy World Marriage Day! Contradictions in today's observances... It's also "Man Day", but I don't know many men that would be willing to share their day (as if every day isn't Man Day) with "World Marriage Day". Other observances include White T-Shirt Day, Make A Friend Day (Hi, will you be my friend?) and Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day. Happy Birthdays to Brandy (30), Jennifer Aniston (40), Burt Reynolds (73), Sheryl Crow (46), Wacko Jacko Jr. (11), Tina Louise (75), Leslie Nielson (83) and old Thomas Edison (162). L4t3z!
