The Hero returns triumphantly to his home. I feel this is the best piece i have written and put on the NWvault. I have taken the score and put it into my music programs, So this piece wasn't written specifically on the computer, it was intended for a live orchestral performance.
If you liked this song, please also check out Quest ( Link ). It is a more recent composition that is very similar to this one.
UPDATED VERSION:
------------------------------
Version 3 has been changed slightly with the new hardware I have. Enjoy!

This song (along with other songs of yours) deserves to be in the hall of fame!

Dude, I must say very nice.
I was just looking into buying NWN and NWN2, and found this website. Seeing that there is a community for composers within the game structure I know I am definitely going to get this game. I should post some of my own songs on here, though they aren't as good as this.
Good work, I am very impressed!

It really is a fitting accompaniment to a hero's welcome. Excellent piece. _________________________ Yay, I have a blog. Faithless: The Making of an NWN2 Module

yeah, I guess I'll have to blame that on the software... A live recording of it sounds much better. The freeware I use wont allow too much of dynamic or tempo changes... so the last half certainly doesnt seem to move like it is intended to... but thanks for the vote! _________________________ Snafe Composed: What is a game without music? Nice piece. The new hardware you have certainly improves it. My only criticism would be the overall flow of the track seems a bit stilted in places but, appart from that, it's a well written piece of music. _________________________ My Vault Submissions My web site Myspace
I am currently studying to get my BA in music performance (trombone) as well, so i dont quite have it yet. I have discussed this piece many times with my composition proffessor, he has suggested some of these things which the computer does not add justice to. This is one of the few pieces I have put on the NWvault which is arranged and composed to fit a live orchestra, not a computer orchestration program. So there are things that make sense in the performance that dont make sense here, like the tempo and expressiveness of this piece.
I really appreciate the comments you make, they help out a lot. Currently, I am composing a soundtrack for Neverending Nights/Neverending Daze, and have no time to go back and change some of the compositions I wrote nearly 6 months ago.
Currently, I am looking at new software/hardware to compose music, instead of the freeware I currently use. Once I get that software, I will put all these older compositions into it and fix a lot of the problems they have just from software capablities (i hate the lack of dynamic control in my current software).
I will look into your advice. After all, if i didnt listen to someone's advice, my composition "The Grove" wouldnt be on the top rated list. Please feel free to email me any more advice you might have: Snafe1@gmail.com
I listened to the piece a second time, and I must say that I do enjoy your composition; however, I am still convinced that there are a few improvements you could make concerning its arrangement. I have been a member of this community for five years, and I rarely post anything at all, especially in the form of criticism. So I hope you understand that my intention is to provide possible suggestions for improvement, though you obviously do not have to take my advice - especially if you consider that fact that I am a complete stranger. Of course, music composition is an art form, and as such, it is open to a myriad of possibilities and interpretations. However, I should mention that I hold a BA in music performance (piano), and I am currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing. Therefore, if you are willing to simply humor me, attempt a slight rearrangement and see what you can come up with. If, after a while you see no better arrangement possible, I shall concede. What do you have to lose?
The choppiness is from my lack of software and hardware. I am currently using all freeware. So its not an arrangement problem, Its a standard orchestral score.
I dont see how the Freitag pyramid fits into this. If I were to use it, the climax would come way too early. The climax in my piece comes in the modulation in the recap. The dynamic levels could be changed a bit with better software, but for now this will do.
I would suggest changing the arrangement as it is very choppy and does not "flow" well. The Freitag pyramid works in music composition as well as literature. Study it. And please, I hope you understand I am simply offering a little constructive critisicm, as your music has great potential.

I had the opprotunity to hear different versions of this piece while Snafe composed it. It was cool to see how the piece evolved and turned into what it is now.
The song may have some slower spots near the first and middle, but it quickly moves right into the tune. Very well done. Could be used for a castle theme, noble theme, or at a climatic spot during a mod (IE: the hike up the last mountain to face the dragon or something). It could also be used as an ending credits theme.
Very well done. Very flexible in its usage. You can not go wrong with this song. _________________________ It's not how fast you go, it's how you get there.

You've inspired me to compose (and maybe post) a few pieces for NWN mods... Thanks and Godspeed!

Dude, I cant get by without voting on this one too... Your music has really really improved since we last talked, I remember the first piece you showed me, I hate to say it, but it wasnt very good, not as good as this one.
I composed it with Finale 2003, then saved it as a midi file, then transfered it into a free program called "Synthfont" where I changed the soundfonts. then I put it into another program after that, Wavepad (another free program), where I added some reverb to it.
I have added a smaller version of the song, its the same thing, but instead of 10Mb it is 5Mb.
I also must say thanks to both of you, I'm glad to know somebody out there likes my music. :) _________________________ Snafe Composed: What is a game without music? Neverending Nights - A NWN Machinima My NWVault Submissions

Great piece. By far my favorite by Snafe. The Grove and Tavern Ditty (by Snafe) are also great tunes that can add emotion to your NWN mods.

Im jealous, dude. I only got passed 8th grade band, i could never dream of making something like this.
