Where do the good people of Neverwinter go when they're bored? Why, the Neverwinter Lights Casino to gamble their troubles away!
The casino offers a full range of gaming and entertainment activities. These activities include roulette, craps, chinchirorin, blackjack and even slot machines. All games rules are modeled completely after real life casino games, with brand new interfaces fully integrated into Neverwinter Nights 2.
This single player mod is playable at any level, and is intended to act as a showcase for the UI and gameplay elements we have been recently working on.
Although it is not intended to be a full-scale adventure, these technical elements are framed in a small (hour long) story which will guide you through an exciting plot to stake out and rob the casino.
With enough interest, we are open to expanding these games for multiplayer use as well as packaging them into hakpak form for release (along with usage documentation and interface guide). Currently, an ALPHA version of the casino games redistributable (with basic instructions) is available on our website:Link
We support all the work we create, and will perform normal maintenance and bug fixes on this mod.
We hope you enjoy the casino, and welcome your votes and comments! We also couldn't have completed this mod without the support (ideas and content) of some of the members of the community. Please view the readme document in the zip archive to see the complete list of sources. If we missed giving credit to anyone - *please* let us know! As mod authors, we respect the work of others, and would not want someone elses hard work to go unmentioned.
Luonnotar,
The purpose of the mod (as stated in the description) is to frame our casino games in a small scope 1-hour story. It wasn't/isn't intended to be a campaign setting with a fully developed plot. The focus of the mod are the games itself. Let us know if you noticed any bugs or anything about them that needs fixing. We are working on a multiplayer version now. An interesting idea for a campaign or so.. but without a background or story I cannot give better mark then 5. Nice stuff though _________________________ ::RAWR::

Ive never seen anything like this in NWN. Groundbreaking on the interface stuff. How did you get these things to animate?

Yeah, thanks. I'll most certainly try this at some point. Looking forward to spending some gold at NLC! _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

The best level to play through would be from 3-9. There is some fairly high level gear, but it's all special items for sale at the casino shop. In order to get them, you'll have to pay top dollar (assuming you win enough at the casino!) _________________________ Most recent... Hey, I know it says any level. But considering the SP mini-campaign, what would you say would be a good level range? I presume there may be some money to be made (in the quest, too), for instance. So, the treasure might be too much for very low-level characters, for instance. I realize you may not want to say much in order to avoid some potential spoilers, but, well, any suggestions? I take it that a rogue-ish character will make good sense.
We're begun the converstion, but due to the complexity of the games it's a slow process. We're also hoping for some more community feedback/votes. After sinking hundreds of hours into this, we want people to play it! _________________________ Most recent... The Heist at the Neverwinter Lights Casino || Halloween 2008 || Ravenloft: Dreamscape

I thought this was a great mod. I'd like to see more users do similar things, especially bringing new user interface ideas to nwn.
Blind guardian was awesome too! What a cool idea.
The reason this doesnt get a 10 in my book is because I really wish the casino games were multiplayer.

This mod was a lot of fun. I spent a lot of time losing my gold in the casino. Excellent mod BlackRain!

Wonderful work again, Black rain. The detail you put into this mod is "outstanding". I have never seen anything like this attempted in the neverwinter nights game.
My only slight problem was the "cliffhanger" ending. That may appeal to some people, but it is just a personal preference for me.
i also didnt find any bugs. great job!

This was a really interesting display of what can be done through UI manipulation. The story element linking it all together was neat too.

Thanks for the fun mod BlackRain. I was impressed by the custom UI elements for all the casino games. They really added to the immersion factor of this mod.
The sneaking room was interesting, and a lot of fun. Hiding in the orange crates was an awesome touch to the system.
I know this mod was made to show off the casino elements, but the story that was presented in this small mod was very neat.

This is some really impressive work with custom user interface elements. And even though it's supposed to be a demonstration of technical elements, I found the module very well put together, and everything is very polished. Thumbs up!

It was mostly (perhaps only) the third one from the left. _________________________ Timmmeahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
would you happen to rememebr which weight position this occured at? just so we could reproduce it? the UI system is being very difficult for this drag and drop. this isnt the first time we've had to come up for a workaround for one of the weights... _________________________ Most recent... It was good to see the scales part actually use "real" (and by real, I mean assume that the beams are massless =P ) physics, and can be solved without pure guess/check.
There was an issue with the placement of the weights into their slots - sometimes, the game won't accept the weight and I'd have to click reset.
Other than that, everything else seemed pretty flawless =) _________________________ Timmmeahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Well considering that I lost 6000 gold on the slots last night, I'd say it's fun. I made it back at the blackjack tables though.
The module is quite fun as well, the stage show is worth the playthrough alone. The module ends kind of suddenly though.

The idea of the casino itself is excellent and something really funny. Custom UI are nicely done ^^
Thanks for this release and I hope we will have a MP package.
We do have tentative plans to expand this to multiplayer. We've run through the technical proof of concept, and it can be done (using the guis as well).
That would be a natural iteration on this release. For the present time, we're trying to gauge user feedback on the idea of the casino itself and how much enjoyment the community gets out of it.
