Series premiere: Wednesday, September 17 at 8.30pm

FRINGE, a thrilling new drama which explores the blurring line between the possible and the impossible, hits Channel Nine on Wednesday, September 17 at 8.30pm, a week after it premieres in the United States.
FRINGE, the gripping series from J.J. Abrams, creator of Lost, stars two Australians: newcomer Anna Torv (The Secret Life of Us, Young Lions, McLeod’s Daughters) as tough FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham, and John Noble (Lord of the Rings films) as the obsessive Dr Walter Bishop, a modern-day Einstein. Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek) plays Peter, Dr Bishop’s son.
When an international flight lands safely on autopilot at Boston’s Logan Airport with all passengers and crew aboard dead, FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Torv) is called in to investigate as part of an inter-agency task force. When her partner, Special Agent John Scott (Mark Valley), also part of the investigation, starts to show signs of the unexplained condition of those found dead on the plane and nearly dies too, Dunham searches frantically for assistance. This leads her to Dr Walter Bishop (Noble).
But there’s one big problem – Bishop has been in a mental institution for 17 years because an assistant was killed in his lab and there were rumours that he was using humans as guinea pigs. Bishop was charged with manslaughter and declared mentally unfit to stand trial and the only way to question him means pulling his estranged son Peter (Jackson) in to help.
The investigation leads to the multi-billion-dollar, cutting-edge research facility of Massive Dynamic Corporation and its manipulative executive director, Nina Sharp (Blair Brown). The owner of Massive Dynamic, William Bell, used to work alongside Dr Bishop before he was locked up.
Dunham, Dr Bishop and his son Peter, along with Department of Homeland Security Agent Phillip Broyles (Lance Reddick) and FBI Agents Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) and Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole), will discover that what happened on the fatal flight into Boston is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.
