- dvdcr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1owsome idea
- anp14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lucky bastard if he actually pulls it off
- brewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1original. dumb. lazy. These are the words that come to mind.
- teevee247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very original, somewhat lazy, and a good idea imo. According to the site, he already made $3000... it would be worth it :)
- phishyJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha, wow, amazing idea
- Mudcrutch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dumb that the minimum buy in is $100 bucks. he would make more money if people could donate starting at $1
- nashdawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0f'ing brilliant
- anarchy2465, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think its genius, but i dont know any colleges that cost $1,000,000?
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now that this is getting spread around, he'll get a million in no time.
- Laurent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Fsck him! I cannot believe those squared were legitly bought...
- MEvsYOU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lame... stupid... cool... pretty original... heck if you can make some money that way.. why not? good for him.
- larsinio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1get a job!
- reaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome idea.
- timmyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Own a piece of Internet History".
Damn. I wish that I could just invent a piece of Internet History and then charge people to join...
Lazy. Creative. - tdamore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is lame.
- Deputy_Dawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think he has a great idea going except the "restrictions" you can not change the link once it is posted except for "strong reasons". So if you want the link to post to a index.html instead of a home.html you are screwed. You have to host the image on an http site, aka not on his. For $100 don't you think a 10x10 image could easily be hosted on his end??? This is just my thoughts on the "small print".
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. He already made about $3,700. Wish I had thought of this… lucky bastard…
I can’t believe anybody would pay a dollar per pixel though. That is outrageous. - Shownarou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You only think it's lame because you didn't think of it first! It's a brilliant idea, so long as it works, why the hell not? The truth is that he could make alot more than he needs for college with this website. It seems that people are quite creative with what they're putting in there as well.
- AdamCo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty cool idea, I wouldn't buy one, but whatever.
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeeeah, I think that's a stupid idea. And I agree with the above person that says "Get a job".
- Sazime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like it! It's going to be damn cool looking when the site is completely filled out.
- cosmic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love internet begging....hes basically a pan-handler..but instead of seeing 1000 people a day he sees 500,000 or more...
- aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1he wants a millino dollar so badly, lets give it to him! lol. spread this page to everyone you know!
- weirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0as far as I can see, all the images are hosted on his server?
- overkill47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Probably one of the most original ideas based off an unoriginal idea (ads). I'm sure it doesnt cost much to host those little pictures, and he's making a crapload of cash off this.
- infinitesnowboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why would u pay for space. Once it starts filling up, good luck finding anything.
- 2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn it!
Another great idea passes me by... :-( - themulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where is golden palace? They'll prob buy space once it gets even more press.
- jeffey_c, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it has potential to be a wicked page. However, I also think that its going to be a page full of ads. I don't know if he is selecting the people that buy the space. But if your one of those spam businesses, then think about the curious or accidental clicks that you could get! And it only costs a buck (I think)! $$
I think its genius...if its regulated - saubz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it doesn't just cost a buck! it costs a buck PER PIXEL! that is minimum $100 for a barely recognizable dot in between thousands of other barely recognizable dots
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No ***** way would I ever pay 100 bucks for a 10x10 block. :/
- bunni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should pay $300 and put a 30x10 pixel penis in there. That'd scare off a lot of customers.
- techromancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What! ...a hundred bucks for one single square?
You know, once the grid is full, the chances of you getting attention will be slim... Unless you throw down like a grand or so. Digg..imma follow its progress. - shooby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mannn...smart guy
- bigtedshred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ha.. yea golden palace for sure will jump on it. nice if he pulls it off
- esssee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One of THE best ideas I have ever seen. Minimal costs, maximum return. And he is doing a Business Degree? Give it to him for free now, and he might give the Uni some free advertising space. :)
- jakedahn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is a cool idea, why didnt i think of that
- mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ jeffey_c: actually you have to buy it in blocks of 10x10 pixels, so the 'minimum order' is $100
- xur17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, this is one of those things, that you hit yourself on the head for saying, why didn´t I think of that first. I have thought up things like this (not this exactly), but stuff that you would think would never work.
- adam.lindsay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+03700 sold, ok and how much was bandwidth this past month?
- Dan?!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not $3700.00
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah we're probably going to cost him a few hundred in bandwidth :P. Oh well, great idea, I really hopes he gets attention. Hopefully he'll reach his goal :)
- jojoko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0college does not cost a million dollars.
- Dan?!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Read the page. It is not all for college. Some is for his parents, and some new socks.
- leadx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If he wants to be a doctor it'd be pretty close to a million if you count "Cost of Living" etc.
I submitted this story because it's such an original idea on an overdone subject. - Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I think he has a great idea going except the "restrictions" you can not change the link once it is posted except for "strong reasons". So if you want the link to post to a index.html instead of a home.html you are screwed."
This is what redirects are for. If you're paying for the advertising you'd better make sure it continues to work. - LazyBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this digg just made the guy alot more money. he should give the poster a cut of the money.... better yet to anyone who digged it.
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and to think you can take out your anger for not thinking of this with a DoS attack.
- manatee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I gotta hand it to him... great idea... but I just came up with a
BETTER IDEA! INTRODUCING...
http://www.MillionPennyHomePage.com
I just registered it. I'm going to sell 100 pixel blocks for only 100 pennies... yes, you heard right, that's only $1.00 per block! If you want to reserve your spot, email me at manateemedia@gmail.com and I'll email you when the site is active. - leadx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Like every great idea... It's instantly copied (and done better). Do you work for Microsoft?
