Man in court over gangland murder

AAP

July 29, 2008 03:19pm

MELBOURNE'S anti-gangland police taskforce has charged a man over the underworld murder of Paul Kallipolitis.

Kallipolitis was shot dead in his home in Melbourne's Sunshine West on October 15, 2002.

Angelo Mario Venditti, of Aspendale Gardens in Melbourne's southeast, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court today charged with the murder.

He made no application for bail during a brief hearing and was remanded in custody until November 18.

Kallipolitis' murder is believed to be linked to the shooting deaths of underworld figures Victor Peirce in 2002 and Frank Benvenuto in 2000, police said.
