Our Clubs give more than 18,000 kids places to call their own – actual neighborhood-based buildings. Our Clubs are symbolic of the community and the programs and activities offered at the Clubs are designed solely for youth. Our Clubs are open every day that schools are open – even weekends and many holidays – to provide kids with positive and productive outlets for their energy. Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago reaches out to kids who cannot afford, or may lack access to, other community programs. We need individuals willing to assistant coach our Work to Play Program as well as mentor at-risk students. Volunteers are a vital to our organization. Please e-mail info@urbaninitiatives.org for more details. In just one hour you can help 30 children in an at-risk community better their lives with an hour of physical activity, health education tutorials, character discussions, as well as a healthy snack. The winter 2009 season starts the week of January 26 and concludes Friday March 20. We are looking for volunteers to commit to one day per week for the eight weeks of the season at any of the participating schools. NINE SCHOOLS TO CHOOSE FROM: Jenner Academy of the Arts Location: 1119 North Cleveland Ave, Chicago, 60610. Division and Cleveland in the Cabrini Green community.
