Why do people insist on posting such dumbass comments like these??? Do they not see that whoever does gets thumbed down all the way to hell???
Anyways, personally, I didn't like 10 all that much. It was alright but I still liked the previous ones that I've played better. Great video though.

FF is one of my favorite series. FFX was pretty darn good too. Though I didn't like FFX2 I just did not like the story, but the battle system and everything else in the game is great.

Great game.. I never played FFX-2 though.. I'm not sure why?
Wakka was funny. I also loved Blitzball, I swear I played it so much, almost half my time overall.
The piano theme song always gets to me. It's so beautiful.
I also remember the Aeon tests. They were pretty tricky.
Oh yeah.. Rikku..... good ol' Rikku :).

I got my first job because I wanted to buy FFX myself, and I was pleased by it. In my own opinion, FFX-2 was the worst, but I just didn't like how it focused around only females..and the preppy attitude.

X-2 still makes me want to throw up a little. Though you have to admit the perverted dress switching an the massage scene almost make it worth it.
But yeah even though I didn't like the style of 10 it was a pretty solid game. A little too easy though up until near the end.

Colossal whale monster. Awesome. At least now I know I'm not the only one who thought it was a whale.
I can't wait until they do the FF Tactics games. FFT for the PS1 was probably one of my favorite FF games ever.

the only thing x-2 had going for it was changing jobs mid battle, but of course they had to call them dresspheres and just kind of ruin it for any man playing.

I could never finish 10. Yuna (both the character and the voice actress) drove me absolutely nuts. I couldn't believe that the first voice-acted FF game had such poor performances. It honestly left me scratching my head wondering why THAT was awarded with the first proper sequel.Oh... and as far as looks go, Yuna was also the least attractive of any of the other FF women.
Music was nice though!

He might have played the US NTSC version, in which case Dark Aeons were not in it. Dark Aeons were only in the Japanese International and PAL versions of the game.
Anywho, as far as I'm aware, FFX is NOT the first time summons had health meters. FFVIII was (heck, Ultimecia KO'd them instantly). Also as pointed out it is 'Tee-dus'.
Still a good video even if it was a little late.

Another great Final Fantasy Retrospective, but I'm not looking forward to FFXI. If part 9 covers FFXI and I'm assuming part 10 covers FFXII, but what will the last two parts cover? Maybe so info on FFXIII and FFXIII Versus? Or some of the spin offs maybe.

This is totally random but are there people who have actually played all 12 main games from beginning to end?
Me, I've not even played a single second of any one of them.

FFX was wicked and FFX-2 was also good but i'd much rather have a game expanding on the 7 universe....Well there was dirge of cerebrus but that wasnt really the same thing

Well it is possible that they could go and cover the spin off games and the game boy games. That should take several episodes.

FFX was fun, but I could not stand Tidus' Meg Ryan-esque face.
I thought the game could have been better, but what we got was a good, solid RPG. There's no complaining about that.

the creators said that they will keep expanding possible things for the ff7 universe for a couple more years. ffX was pretty fun, i enjoyed it. and i believe the nameless king in FF13 is ganna be the next cloud icon.

i loved FFX, had the best story to me and some very intriguing characters. Although i give my tip of the hat to FF7 for the coolest characters.
Ahh, FFX-2 was okay but just that. I think after seeing the ending of X, i was just loving the opportunity to dive back into the world of Spira. Thats what made it so fun, i guess. Well and the battle system, i loved the fast-pace of it!

Anyone who likes either of these above any other Final Fantasy should really open your eyes. I completely hated 10 and I refused to play the sequel, 10-2 is still the only one I will always refuse to play. Shame on you gametrialers for even including these two embarrassments to the final fantasy franchise to your series.

On what do you base this proclamation?
tee-dus, as you claim, cannot be pronounced in Japanese, it would sound like chi-da-su or ta-i-da-su
And in English there's no rule determining how to pronounce a word spelled "Tidus"
Also it's a name, which already means you can pronounce it any way you want (including tee-dus) and it was never spoken by any character in the game because you could change his name in the beginning.

FFX-2 and its multiple (including bad) endings really pull me away from the FFX series, because 1.I'm a RPG noob and I suck at playing FFVII, and 2.I hate dealing with bad endings, I just don't like it.

Actually, the correct way to say his name is (tee-dus). It was in an interview and the man said his name was pronounced (tee-dus).

WTF is wrong with you people!?!?!? :-@ FF X & X-2 are good I look at X-2 like an alternate ending for X
X=sad,,, X-2=happy
OK!
and it was a great jump in graphics for the series and better than 9 9 was great Im not saying it wasnt but the ending kinda wasnt :-( really sad cause it all looked like something was happening and then like they ran out of story and ended it blunt. but well that my opinion. And all you dumb fucks saying its gay let me tell U that U are more gay 4 saying zhitt like that! HAh :-D
back to FF this retro thingy is great and I repeat! FF X & X-2 are cool different a new perspective in the series :-) Just luvin the FF universe :-)

I don't care what anyone says, X-2 was awesome. The only reason people hated it is because they thought it was "Too Girly". I bet if they used the FFVII franchise, or even Chrono Trigger with the same gameplay as X-2, all of those people who hated X-2 will jack off to it if it had FFVII or CT characters.

After 9 ,I think Square really lost their ability to produce intresting well thought out characters. It's kinda funny bashing such a nice looking game but the game was very empty for me and the characters were so one dimentional i could'nt stand them. The storyline was just so predictable to and boring I can't understand how people found it to be so amazing.

Alright, Kay-leen-san.
Actually "ti" is a valid spelling and pronunciation variant. Certainly the majority of speech is "chi", but like all languages, the Japanese also have regional accents.

I don't know why they didn't mention the parallels between Final Fantasy X-2 and Charlies Angels...
I mean, yeah, they're kinda obvious, but there are still people out there who may have to have it pointed out before they'd notice.

Personally I never rwally liked FFX. I beat it and all, and the gameplay system is amazing, but the story is just emo, all it ever talks about is death. I can;t wait for next weeks episode, I really want to know how FFXI is like because I'll probably never play it. I can;t wait untill they start talking about the modern nintendo Final Fantasy titles like Cronicles, Tacitcs (I know one is for PS), and the remakes. I also want to know what Mystic Quest for SNES was.

Now that i look back on it, Final Fantasy X matches up with my votes for FF6 and 7 great game made me waste 300 or 400 hrs on it thanx to my bro for taking the memory card
Oh yeah and about FFX-2, I have to say it was god awful
fun at first but ended up giving it away within a few months

FFX-2 wasn't great but, but you have to admit it was a bold move to make a FF like FFX-2, that's something right.
Aside from the cool job switching in battle.
FFX was a great Game, best RPG on the PS2 IMO.

Okay, so like, what the fuck, Gametrailers? Why did you guys not mention how fucking fast X-2's battle speed was? It has the fastest fucking battle system in all of the FFs to date, and yet this detail is left out. Playing this game made FF players actually set the battle speed to previous FF games to max, and even then it wasn't enough! To fathom setting X-2's battle speed to max was suicidal! Why the fuck was this detail left out???

The most amusing thing to me is that, even though Tetsuya Nomura is the official illustrator from FF VII and forward, Yoshitaka Amano still makes some concept art for those games. You can see his work in this retrospective series when each game is first introduced. I mean, I like Nomura's anime style and everything, but Amano's style makes the characters look so stylized. It's great.
In case you don't know this by now, Amano was the official illustrator of the first six FF games. The art style of those games is so greatly different from Nomura's style in the latter games.

I loved final fantasy X it was the next best FF game next to 7. Just hearing the main music to FFX just gives me the chills. I love that song it was the best, it was an unforgettable and always will be! Im not too sure what its called, but you can listen to it at the menu screen of the game befor you start...

and yea they did that one already. it was the one before this. its part VI of this retrospective.
awesome!! :D :D

Did they forget to mention that? They also said FFX had a happy ending. Anyone who's finished it knows that's completely wrong. The bad guys were killed, but it was hardly "happy".
FFX's ending is my favourite FF ending.
FFX is possibly the best.
X-2 is possibly the worst.

it died on X. i didnt enjoy it as much as other people have. althought i must admit 12 made a come back in the ff series.
gotta admit to what zialus said...

Amano is the greatest artist to ever live IMO. This sounds silly to make such a blanket statement but his work spans near every media. His passion and knowledge of art from what I know of him seems quite profound. And most of all, what artist can claim such a wholly unique mind warping original art style? that had never been seen before and is unmatched to this day..

X-2 was a bit of a let down, the best part of the whole game was the credits before the menu screen. That song was awsome ("Eternity ~ Memories of Light and Wave").

For me FFX is up there along with FFVI and FFVII. I really liked all three of them for various reasons, and can't really pick any one game over the others, although, I must have played FFX and FFVII for a combined 300hrs.

FFX was a great game, but a little cheesy at times. X-2 just didn't do it for me... and I don't even think I'm going to watch the next part of this retrospective, I can't stand FFXI.

FFX-2 battle and job systems are great, too bad the rest doesn't quite keep up. FFX on the other hand is awesome. Great retrospective as usual.
Also I never understood why all the complains about FFX's voice acting... I thought it was pretty good for the time, way above the average of any other RPG featuring voice acting back then. And Square only improved since that, FFXII in my opinion has the best voice acting I have heard in any RPG.
Just a little question to wrap it up: in the video the narrator called FFX's airship "Fahrenheit"... I don't remember that being said in the game at all. Is it official info? It makes sense though, considering FFX-2's airship is the "Celsius".

FFX was awesome. X-2 was a little, well, odd but I loved the job system. Especially switching in battle and getting a sing, powerful form to make up for there being no Aeons.

My favorite rpg. It just amazed me every single minute I played that game. I didnt get into FFX-2, i played it but never beat it. But FFX was the best to me

Guess I'm one of the few, but i really liked X-2. It was nice having a lighthearted atmosphere for once instead of ominous impending doom. Battle system was great also.

FF-X is the best final fantasy in my opinion. I think I have like 170 logged into my main save file and I played through in more then once. God that game is so awesome.
Then X-2 comes along and takes all the character and places I came to love in X and threw them in a soap opera. The gameplay wasn't the greatest but it was far from broken but the story sucked so hard I can't help but hate that game. There, I said my peace.

I think X probably had the best battle system of all the Final Fantasy games, although VIII is still my fav. X-2 is, well...it wasn't TERRIBLE, but did take away some of the legend that is X. Hopefully it won't stop Square-Enix from making more direct sequels. It's also too bad XI sucks so much. Should've been awesome, but it's just boring.

FF X was pretty damn fun, only it was obvious from the beginning that Seymor was gonna be a badguy, it's like they didn't even try to hide it. Never played X-2, but I saw my brother play the first few minutes. Before the first mission even started Yuna almost fell of some cliff or something which was a retarded reason to have a close-up of her ass. I just convince myself X-2 doesn't exist.

I had FFX, loved it. I bought X-2 in hope of it being great, I barely ever played it, but I didn't want it to go to waste so I finished it once, and it was barely worth it. I traded it later for GTA:San Andreas.
A great deal for such a crappy game I'd say. :p ..wait, did I just call X-2 a game? It's a MISTAKE! (I just remembered all the crap in that game -_- ..*sighs* why Square Enix..why...)
FFX though is still really great, I should try to get the game again and replay it, I miss all the fun... just like FF7, even though I got FF7 already. XD

Agreed...FF-X was my first Final Fantasy. It's the best Final Fantasy and RPG. I wanna buy the soundtrack.
X-2 was just okay, I don't hate it (mostly) just wished it was better.

i found x-2 to be a OK game, but it was so cheezy that you got really bored with it... i never even finished it... had to take serveral month's brakes every third of what i finished (about 80%)
the job system was really good imo but the acting was worthless and story was stupid and confusing... very easy to get lost in the pointless side-stories which most of them wasnt actualy worth doing
in X and most other FF games u had the normal story path and tons and tons of aditional stuff you COULD do but didnt have to... like getting the ulitmate weps and such.... in X-2 this was almost impossible to know if you were doing or not due to the story system
i also heard that the game was made to make more girls play the game.... and yeah... we all know how many like those "female" games.... girls dont like em themself either

They were a nice leap to the next generation at the time, but so many people were stuck on what their fave final fantasy was (6-9) to really appreciate how good this was.
I think it was a bold move with the sphere grid, but it did put alot of people off, as they didnt get stronger naturally by beating enemies, instead they had to choose what to do.
X-2, while cheesy, wasnt all that bad, I enjoyed the job-change system, but because it was a sequal, it couldnt really add that much to the great story that X had gave us.

I agree, @ first yuna was nice and sweet like sugar, and in the second part they change her. Eventhough the second wasn't great, still FFX is still #1, well I also love 8... 7... 9... mmm... Ill leave it that I love ff series :D

I don't care what any of you say the story in X-2 was amazing. The out come of vegnagun, it brought chills. Some of you ask why they change yuna, it's like when you're in a situation where death had you in it's arms completely and some how you manage to break free. After everyday being known for people dying and for you to save people more people die and you defeat this thing and everything is normal. You will live your life to the fullest. That's why I understand the game. I've just destroyed the most powerful monster known to man with the help of my friends, no more sacrafice for me or anyone else because of me. I know I would have a fucking ball. I mean she came out of her shell two years later. Man that same day I would've been high, drunk all types of shyt after that. And what pushed her to do it was that damn sphere which got her to do everything else. She just wanted to feel free. She didn't want people to think bcuz she was a summoner and so high, she wanted to be an it girl like paris hilton (she's so hott). So jsut think if you went threw the same thing you would party. Perfect example, The ACTs, now yall know after the ACTs and graduation, you partied like a rockstar. See, she was doing the same and because of her new career she got back into the mix of spira which set FFX-2s story off. I loved them both X n X-2, I just think 10 made me understand the story more. Anyway These two were my favorite FF games ever I give thema 100/10 I'm sorri I love this game. I love 7 thru 12 as well. And 12 was one of those you had to love the story was lacked but it was intense and challenging just how I like it. NE way just understand X-2 and play it over and understand where I'm comin from, aight.

I liked X-2, the battle system was just genius, all the extra stuff was great too. The only thing I didn't like was the opening.
Oh, one more thing, you could easily miss 1 tiny little line of dialog and you wouldn't get 100% completion

I remember borrowing a PS2 from a friend just to play thru FF X and X-2.
And I am really curious to see how you wrap up FF XI, cause I am playing it on a regular basis and I really, really love it.
Playing with true FF Fans is the most fantastic experiance one can ever make.
So, keep up the splendid work and don´t push yourself too hard to get it out in time. I for myself think that it´s worth the wait.
Cu, Limbo.

I played FFX and beat it, thought it was decent but not the best of the series even though the graphics were insane good. I never played FFX-2 cause you were only 3 girls, felt like a chick RPG. Though by watching this retro one thing I do like about the game is the job system. But I still won't buy it hehe.

X was groundbreaking stuff
And am I the only person alive who absolutely adored X-2? It had such a unique feel to it and the dress sphere system was awesome. I personally thought it was legendary.

Personally, I liked X-2, although "Yuna's Angels" is kind of what it played like. It wasn't the greatest FF game, but it was fun and it appealed to my fanboy sensibilities.

FFX sort of just ruined everything about FF. I really wish they would make a real game breaking game not this mediocre game, that is beat able in like under a day.

As ever, a great retrospective, I really enjoyed 10, but 10-2 almost made my ears bleed. Ended up playing most of the game with the sound muted. Battle system for it was great though.

Oh To Zanarkand and Hymn of the Fayth always sends a shiver down my spine =) I love X, though the sphere grid really sucks... And I'm really looking forward to the next Retrospective as XI is the only game in the core series I haven't played yet...

Looks great... but i never play this one! I'm a big Fanatic of squaresoft stuff! and I've played and finished all FF before FF7... I stoped to play after the 7. And I never bought a PS2 ... well i know thats seem pretty ridiculous... Well if all people here can assure me that's the best FF of ALL time is this one... Well prove it and I'll buy a PS2 just to play it! For my point of view ( the eye of a old school, snes BIG fan) The FF6 was the best ... maybe that's because i was steel young and I was capable to believe the game... Now I'm 23 and thats not the same feeling. Soooo my memories control my feeling and I dont think I could change this emotion. Well sorry for this.. I put a 9 ! So if your were born after 1984 you never play FF6 like it should Well sorry but I think thats a question of age and experience... There's no best FF. Everyone know FF and everyone have played a least one of them so I respect all the point of view here because we all know that FF series is the best RPG of all Time! That depend on what is your FF feeling!
I've spent lots of hours trying to perfect the sphere grid, mastering the battle arena and beating up the company of Dark Aons (PAL/International version only) in FFX
I did play through X-2, but the game seemed to become all about lining up lucky sevens with the lady luck slots to bride enemies once finnished with the main story. It was ok but not great.

X was my second favorite 3D FF right after IX. X-2 wasn't all bad though. It's battle system was pretty damn good, it's just the rest of it wasn't up to par with the high standards of quality that we expect from a Final Fantasy game.

FFX. Ick. The thing was terrible as a game. Not at all fun. Awful battle system. Horrific plot too. The music, excluding some good pieces was far worse than fans have come to expect.
Character designs weren't bad. This was the game before Nomura became a TOTAL hack.
And, well, FFX-2 speaks for itself. The further downward spiral, since Square figured out they could sell shoddy products just by having Final Fantasy in the title, so they stopped putting the effort in. And started ruining greats like FFVII.
Retrospective was pretty good. A little rough on some story details though. Did S-E insist they not spoil the plot of these entries either?

The only thing I hated about FF10 was the blitzball game, it just too confusing and very hard, I didn't have the patience for it. FF10-2 was also a good game, not the most compelling one, because of the Charlie Angels-meet-Final Fantasy type of story, but it was still pretty good, and it was nice to see Yuna and Tidus back togheter again.

x-2 was good, in a japanese kind of way. and i liked that i only had three characters to level up, this makes playing it more relaxing and the job system was great in my opinion.
x-2 was an important step in the final fantasy series.

i have to seriously disagree with that. x was the last great ff, and x-2 was a horrible abomination.

Trust a VII fanboy to come out with trash like that... OH COURSE IT WAS A GOOD GAME! IT SOLD UNBELIVABLE AMOUNTS! and still sells now-a-days you can't argue with fact.

I think 10 was also the 1st final fantasy to really cater to the female fans,i mean look at all the past main characaters and then look at tidus... Girls ate it up and loved him ,while all us guys were frankly annoyed or wanted him dead.I didn't even bother getting x-2 i was'nt exactly excited with 10 to begin with,so i stayed the hell away from x-2 and i think i'm better for it.
I've also noticed this new trend square enix is doing now, they'll leave the endings incomplete ,so they can make sequals later on.10-12 all have sequals..7 which didn't need a sequal also got it's treatment of a movie form sequal which sucked by the way.Square enix is not even waiting for 13 to come out, they're already putting out like 2 other versions of 13....nice way to cash in square enix.

Yeah, that was the first one I played and it was good, but FFIX has a much better story I think. and X-2 just sucks, I tried to re-play it a month ago and only got about 1/4 of the way through and lost interest. I hope that XIII will be similar to X but with a better story.

Actually you definitely can. Sales don't equal good games at all. Every yearly generic EA sports game sells millions. All the awful FFVII spinoffs sell well, but are STILL awful.
Whereas really good games may not sell as well, it's an old one, but a good example would be Grim Fandango.
I'll admit to being an FFVII fanboy, but I don't buy every piece of overpriced crappy merchandise, spinoffs or whatever else they're peddling these days. I just know a good story and good gameplay when I see it. (or play it rather)

I just have to brag:
I'm all done with the sphere grid. And all my players have reached 99999 in attack!!

sometimes i think the pacing of the shots that make up their montages are a little too predictable. i'd like to see more extended ones now and again.
it'd be ok if they just had dead air time...i just want to get a little more before the next clip

I wanted to learn more about the different versions of Final Fantasy X. Square made the game one way in Japan, upgraded it for North America, and upgraded again to return it to Japan. I want to know how those up upgrades were like.

I think that FFX is the 2nd best final fantasy game after the FFVII. Pretty much everything is good in final fantasy x but i didn't like it's sphere system and i favor active time battle more than the turn-based that ffx had.

FFX was my first final fantasy. And it was amazing!!! The only nag I can have is the voice acting (especially the laughing scene with Yuna in Luca after the blitzball tournament).
Some animations and gestures got quite annoying.
The story was so good!
FFX and FFVII are my favrouite Final Fantasies.

FFX is amazing, its FMVs still hold up fine today and the characters were likable, and story intriguing. The music is phenomenal, Game or not, it can stand on its own.
Can't wait to see FFXI, IMO its an extremely underrated MMORPG. Amazing.

i don't own it but when i played it for about 4 hours at my friends house it seemed to be a great game
combat is fast and addicting
compared to the painfully slow ffx
which was still a good game
there seems to be a lot of bad comments on x-2

Never finished X-2. I started it and like 10 minutes in was like WTF IS THIS CRAP?! I tried to return it but they wouldn't take it so I kept it for a while and sold it to some FF maniac who bought it for $40 off me. I don't know why it was for sale in stores for like $30 but oh well. Final Fantasy 10 is in my opinion the best Final Fantasy game ever created.

Seeing the retrospective to FF11 should be pretty good as this is the only one I haven't played

I my self loved the FFX and FFX-2 games. The first one was so shrouded in death that X2 really felt more like a continuation or a follow up to the characters you worked so hard to level. I don't believe that you can say that one final fantasy is better then an other, they are so different from each other. They all try to tell a story in a different way. I have yet to be disappointed by any of there methods

I absolutely loved FFX, so I was the happiest man on earth when I heard they'd continue its story. I got X-2 the day it came out and nearly died of excitement when I started it. But then... This strange costume changing thing, singing and dancing with pretty colours (during battles!), a party and a presentation that reminded me more of Charlie's Angels than my beloved FFX... From the use of voice acting to the story developement it seemed to me that they had put far less effort into this game than its prequel.
But still, even though I was disappointed, I really tried to like it. I put hour after hour into the game, searching for the spirit of FFX, which had to be in there somewhere, but I just couldn't find it, and at some point not even half way through the game I just gave up and put it on the shelf, only to sell it on Amazon later.
One of the things that bugged me most was that I was able to meet my old party members (Wakka, Lulu etc.), but apparently after their last adventure they had become lazy and now they just stay at home and don't even think about coming with you, not even if it's for finding your and _their_ old friend Tidus.
I'm not sure if I'm remembering right, but I think the ex-partymembers didn't even have voice acting in the sequel, but that might be just my memory misleading me...

FFX did a good job creating likeable characters. And the fish out of water thing went a long way to making you feel like you were a part of the story. But I hated Blitzball and those puzzles were atrocious!
Unfortunately (and I'm probably going to get thumbs down for saying this) Shadow Hearts Covenant is the best PS2 RPG ever made!
There I said it. Now hit me!

I'm sorry to hear that. There are certainly better games out there. ;) Btw...awesome avatar (Okage).
It was an okay game, but it didn't seem right when you literally walked through the entire game down a path. After beating it, I really don't want to play through it again. Ah well... I endured it until the end since all FF's are something to experience and talk about with friends.
I REALLY tried to like FFX-2, but half way through the game I started to get sick of the overwhelming girl power and prancing around my screen. Ugh...

Loved them both, but really X was a much better game, though you could technically make a weapon more to your liking than the ultimate weapons and make badass armor. Also there is the fact that if you took a lot of time you could kill everything in the game in like two hits. It's a bit sad when you kill the last boss and it took about one turn. On that note I do like X-2 but really it's more of a game that would be liked by either girls or gay men. Not saying your gay if you like the game it's just well it's a bit happy to say the least. Of course there is the that little sick pervy voice inside my head that tells me, to put them and the skimpiest outfit possible and make them do weird things. Of course there is the scene where their at the moonflow and they're talking to a waist height midget with a long beak, who had companions with blue balls, if that isn't sybolism for something pervy I don't know what is.

9 was the last real FF. Beyond, became disgrace, and an MMO milking machine. Tsk tsk. 12 felt like a MMO just without the online players. Horrible. Maybe 13 can take this horrible curse away.

He stated that FF10 was the first to have it where the summons had their own HP bar, but he is wrong FF8 was the first to do that I think. When u summoned the GF's in FF8 it had that blue bar and if u got hit you wouldnt get damaged, but the GF would and when the GF had died you couldnt summon it and you had to revive it with a GF revive potion.

i loved ffX, my second favorite after FF VI, i did like the voice acting, i thought they were going to be horrible as usually happens with anime dubs, but it was decent sometimes bad, but nothing aweful like, the lvl system was fun for me, i dont know if its just me but i wouldnt want to see all the ffs, having the same traditional lvl system, and just changing the main actors and the history. And props to ff x2 even thought i felt iwas like a mainstream game, but wasent bad effort in that case.

Words cannot describe how much I love Final Fantasy X
I really liked the music in the game too, so much actaully that I ended up playing them on Piano. I hope that the next soundtracks on FFXIII are just as memorable.

X-2 was actually better than X.
Because in X, if you got stuck, you couldn't go somewhere else to train. Your game would be going nowhere, and you'd have to start the whole thing again, just to avoid making a mistake on the Sphere Grid.

FFX had a great levelling up system if you really wanted complete control over your character. I missed the ATB system though, as the CTB system wasn't as fluid.
Glad they made the change for FF-X2.

FFX is the only FF that I've havn't completed all the way through, I still stuck on the airship powering up and completing the hidden aeons like magnus sisters and anima.

I don't know why everyone seems to hate X-2. I thought it was a fun game. Yes it was a little cheese at times, but the game play was amazing. They made a lot of bold moves with X-2 and I think it payed off.
X is probably one of my favorite stories in the series and I think that X-2 only made the story better.

Mine!! Really though.... I am truly enjoying these Metroid and Final Fantasy Retrospective specials. Great work, GameTrailers.com! I salute the outstanding presentation and efforts of such entertainment endeavors with a Pseudo Mecha-Reptilian Bark: "Bark, I tell you! Bark!!" Above average historical research of the Square(Enix)series thus far(Albeit, the inclusion of the Bandai WonderSwan Remixed and monochrome Nintendo GameBoy "Adventure" versions would've added just a bit more relevent accuracy from the get-go, for even brief clips of such historical-series information would've sufficed. Nevertheless, an impressive undertaking of such videogame chronicles!)and quality narratives deserve yet another enthusiastic Bark from myself: "Bark!!" Thanx, and keep these quality Retrospective coming! Up next: "Contra Retrospective, Part 1!" Or, dare I type it.... Dragon Warrior/DragonQuest Retrospectives, Parts 1-9!! Bark!!!

FF x is a pretty good game. It's not the best in the series, but it's still pretty good none the less. The Sphere Grid can be very challenging at times. The voice-overs could have been a lot better, the gameplay is pretty good, and the graphics were pretty good for a PS2 game. I haven't really played X-2, so there's not a whole lot that I can say about it.

I would love to see a Dragon Quest retro. That would be awesome. Dragon Quest is a huge rival to Final Fantasy, and the games were really awesome. Too bad not many gamers in the United States know about it.

FFX was the game where Square started to go downhill, FFX was a decent RPG, but in my opinion, the quality if this game was infirior to the previous FFs.

FFX destroyed my soul...the story was insane and I can even compare it to the good feeling of VII in my mind...but only for a while...still, damn good. So good I bought X-2 just to see if there was more of the story or find out if their love was possible after all...it wasn't quite what I was expecting but interesting with the class/job system again...it wasn't until I saw the full ending movie that another single tear came to my mind.Ever since FFVII I've always held story to be at the top of a video game's importance...I think FFX had the edge of storytelling by having voice acting...it really lets you get more into the characters and story as if it were real

I think the battle system in X2 was real good....The characters in X werent bad and the overall story was actually quiet good when you combine both the games....Not to mention Tidus' water sword thing was bad-ass....Is it up there with Final fantasy 7....Hell no, but still a great game.

X-2 Was the biggest joke since Scientology. It would have been a lot better if maybe a new type of Sin had come back, and you hunted spheres on the side.

i didn't like FINAL FANTASY X or X-2 at all. it wasn't as impressive as i thought it would be. final fantasy vii is still better. i probrably would've liked it better if it wasn't ever dubbed.

You Guys Are All Dumbasses! FF7 Is The Greatest Game Of All Time! Nothing Can Compare, Nothing Can Be Put In The Same Sentence As FF7. FF7 Was, Is, And Will Always Be The Greatest Final Fantasy, Also The Greatest Video Game Of All Time. Get It Through Your Heads. And If You Havent Played It, Buy It And You Will Find Out. FF7 Is The Classic Masterpiece That Should Be Praised For All Eternity. FF7 Is THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME! PERIOD!

I'm surprised they didn't rip harder on X-2... I only managed to play it for an hour or two myself. Maybe if I had a chance to get into the story more? I dunno. The dresssphere switching bothered me though, I felt like I had to switch every single battle, or my characters would either be useless (without the bonuses), or wouldn't level up right, so even each random battle became more of a chore than it should have been. One of these days, I'll give it another try, but I'll have to play through X again first.

to me every FF gets better then the last one expect for 12 (and 11 because its a MMO so it dont count.) FF X and X-2 are my fav out of all of them because i couldent help but get pulled into the story as if i was in the game with them. and for the people who think FF 7 is the best out of all of them u are really stupid the only thing that could make it better is the story line since everything improves such as the graphics, the game play, the char's and much more. every FF is better then all the others in one way or other for me in F X-2 i thought the job switching in the middle of battle was the best because no matter what you were fighting you could counter it or just try to tough it out. In X i liked the BlitzBall it wasd very hard to get used to but after some time it got really fun. bottom line u cant say that one FF is the best of all time because they are all unique in their own way! and stop being a "fan boy" people like that give gamers a bad name!

I really really couldn't stand Final Fantasy X. I think it's a large reason why I stopped really getting all that excited or caring much about FF games after this. It was the first time I never actually played a Final Fantasy game to it's conclusion as well, I got into it about 10 hours and then just threw up my hands.
I've always had an itching dislike for the Final Fantasy series' propensity for thrusting moody male characters into the starring role... but Tidus has to be one of the most whiny ("I hate my dad!") and dis-likable characters ever! Whereas the card games were fun and grew on me in the other recent additions... the Blitz Ball games were just a huge boring bother! The voice acting was all pretty painful as well, grating on my nerves and emphasizing my dislike for most of the characters involved.
With FF X-2, I was happy to see Square finally come out with a Final Fantasy game that had female heroes in the spotlight (that "dudes" have hogged for so long throughout the franchise) but still... it was bittersweet considering the wretched game it was building off of... I think I would have been much happier instead for a Final Fantasy IX-2 with further adventures of Dagger, Eiko, and Freya. Oh well.

Awesome insight and info.
These Retrospectives make you want to go out and buy the game at this very instant.
Just one question, does anybody know what song plays at 1:22? Or atleast where it's from?

One of my personal favorites..and the only final fantasy i actually finished...lol. I remember putting in so many hours into this game after school. Ah, good times. And for the person asking the main theme, I think its called "To Zanarkand".

FF7 was & still the best of RPG games, FF10 was small and not-free mode like ff7.
Many ppl special new fans of FF10 never played FF7 & yes i don't blame them if they thinks FF10 is the best. lol
u have to know that Sony comapny used FF7 as Intro of Playsation 3 !!
U think u can compare games better than Sony !
its was the 1st 3D and the best story at all, the system & the charcters more than great.. the fight mode was & still the best.
see this link u will know that story not 1 person who made it : http://www.gamespot.com/p...hinfo
Without FF7 there is no Squarsoft.
The new FF games like FF10, FF10-X2, FF12 not that great story & system like old ones like FF7>>FF9>>FF8.
Really now I see many companies getting close to be better than Squarenix
like Level5 company: rouage galaxy & up coming game " white knight story"
also Midway company : shadow hearts & shadow hearts: covenant
Mistwalker : blue dragon & lost odyssey.
I think this companies gonna beat many games of squarenix
FF7 was & still the best of RPG games, FF10 was small and not-free mode like ff7.
Many ppl special new fans of FF10 never played FF7 & yes i don't blame them if they thinks FF10 is the best. lol
u have to know that Sony comapny used FF7 as Intro of Playsation 3 !!
U think u can compare games better than Sony !
its was the 1st 3D and the best story at all, the system & the charcters more than great.. the fight mode was & still the best.
see this link u will know that story not 1 person who made it :
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/finalfantasy7/tech_info.html?om_act=convert&om;_clk=stats&tag;=stats;techinfo
Without FF7 there is no Squarsoft.

FFX was amazing. I put over 130 hours into it and, considering it's only single player, thats A LOT.
The sphere grid was awesome because it allowed you to make virtually invincible characters (I remade mine completely, so all my characters have all stats maxed out, that's why I put so much time in! It's too bad there are no monsters to even come close to providing a challenge though), the battle system was great because it allowed for huge amounts of strategy (except when your whole team has quick hit; qh hastega=pwnage), I loved Blitzball (again, my team crushed, I even won the Luca tournament in the begining of the game!) and the story was epic.
I guess my only complaint would be Tidus. Like EUmberto said, I hate the FF series's tendency to put immature teenage boys in the starring role.
That being said, I still regard this game as one of my all-time favorites and probably one of the best games ever, or RPGs at least.
(Oh, wait, FFX-2 was in this too... I wish that game had never been made)

I agree that they should have left FFX alone. I mean, FFX-2 ruined what is one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) endings in any videogame...period (the music is too phenomenal for words!) I swear, when I first finished the game I could have sworn I felt my heart stop beating. The ending MUST be seen to appreciate how incredibly emotional it was. For a game's story to bring you to the point of tears is truly...well, something. Many film;s don't reach this type of drama - it was simply well done. Aargh, I still only wish they had found better actors to deliver a more convincing emotional response from me - especially with some of the more moving and serious scenarios like at the Spring (another "one of the greatest moments in any videogame scene" lol.) This game should have had some of the most talented actors to match such an incredeibly well-written and thought-out script. It's a wonderfully told story, from beginning to end.
I for one had no problem with Tidus as some others do. Definitely the best character in the game, imo. Yes, I usually prefer the more "serious" types of leads but Tidus was a nice change of pace and he was actually, hmm...quite enjoyable and watchable. I loved how he didn't give a damn what others thought and followed his heart doing what he thought was the right and best thing to do in particular situations such as when he's forbidden to enter the temple as only guardians are permitted but does so regardless because he's worried about Yuna. It showed he had great character and good intentions, even though it wasn't always the right thing to do. I MUCH preferred his character the more he grew throughout the story. Later on in the game we see him as a very mature and strong character and not the weak, sloppy and sluggish character that is introduced in the beginning.
In any case, FFX is definitely, hands down, the best PS2 game. No hesitation. This game means so much to me and GT did such an EXCELLENT job with this 7th part that I REALLY have this urge to play FFVII-FFX all over again.

I don't give a crap what anyone says, FFX is my favorite one of them all.I found all the characters endearing, the story mesmerizing, the world to be absolutely wonderful, and complex, and the battle system to be flat out perfect.Yes, this is my fav FF.If you don;t like it, go cry into your fanboy cup. And, yes, i have played FFVII.And i must say, X-2 sounds kinda interesting.I may check it out someday.

FF7 is undoubtedly one of the most famous RPGs of all time, but "best"? Doubtful. I have played almost every FF game to date, yet FF7 isn't even my favorite in the series. It's a game that is far too overhyped.
Mind you, I'm not saying it's a bad game, but people tend to hype and praise it too much. I know what it did for the series, but at it's core, that doesn't really mean anything.
I have tons of games and RPGs I love, and I all love them for different reasons. There is no "best" RPG.
But on to FFX. FFX did some things right and some things wrong. It's like a rollercoaster, basically.
I sometimes get the urge to replay it for the 3rd time, but I never do because I remember some of the tedious and boring parts of the game. The last boss was also way too dissapointing, especially Sin.
I started to rant a bit there... but to conclude, another great retrospective from GT.

EUmberto said: I really really couldn't stand Final Fantasy X. Oh well.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't agree more with you!

I hate FF battle systems to this day but I loved the stories so I still went through them all but I hear FF12 has a crappy story so even if I like the new battle system I don't really want to play it.

I love final fantasy and number X is my favourite! Thanks for making these!
Ps I agree with the sphere grid being the best. but not the nymber XII being the worst I just thought it was as good as VIII: good but not great.

I am happy someone finally told the final fantasy story. I can't wait for nexts week show. Keep giving me relatively but incredibly interesting stories behind our favorite game series.

Why is Tidus always pronounced different? I always figured 'tie-dus' was correct because oh, hey it sounds like tide, since the game is so water themed, but then I hear Square guys pronounce it 'tee-dus'... Also, I believe they called him 'tee-dus' in Kingdom Hearts. So, is it 'tie-dus' or 'tee-dus'? :(
On another note, FFX was actually the second time Summons were given a health bar, the first being VIII, I'm sure alot of people caught that mistake.

No doubt about, that the retrospective is damn great.
But why do you play a bit of the song real Emotion at the beginning of X-2 and then don't tell a thing about the Japanese singer Koda Kumi?
At FFX not even a single sound from the theme-song Suteki da ne by RIKKI. But you mentioned Faye Wong at FFVIII.
This is of course not really important, But would make the retrospective a bit more complete.

I like FFX probably my favorite game. It was a nice change in pace from the other FF's like the voice acting, a heavy metal song in the intro scene, and a sphear grid lvl system. I don't think the stroy was linear only because they hit you with all the plot twists before you finish 60% of the game but even then right from the get go they tell you whats up Pilgrimage to a couple temples ultimate summon don't worry its not a spoiler like I say they tell you right from the get go.
Tidus the hero and heroine Yuna are I guess what you call you're average teenagers not like VII or VIII where all your characters are natural born fighters in a resistant/military group. Tidus also wasn't the usual FF hero, you know silent dark type that keeps to themselves for most of the game because they had a rough past.
Graphically I think it was the most colorful game of any of the FF games I've ever seen. All the characters and weapons they literally hit you with every color of the rainbow, I mean when was the last time you saw a FF character where a bright yellow jacket and overalls.
Loved the music inspirational, contagious, and absorbing
FFX-2 by it self if you don't compare it to any other FF its a good game.

i liked how one of the main plot devlopments was life and death, just like final fantasy vii. i felt kinda weird when my favorite character auron was found to be an unsent, its different to think a dead guys still kickin the most ass after death haha. the environments in this game made my imagination fly ill tell ya, and at least x-2 had hot chicks kickin ass. loved the everyone attacks at once for added bonuses, kinda reminded me of valkyrie profile.

Despite my great love for VI and VII, I believe that X is probably the best in the series. Definitely story-wise, anyway. It's not as diverse as VI, or as profound as VII, but I think it's a good ole' tale.
The graphics are fantastic.
Pretty much everything (even the voice acting) was great.

FFX was an ok game, it just didn't seem like they put enough into it. The ending pissed me off but they could have added more. I loved the battle system and the aeons and how you didnt just summon them but you could control their commands as well. I didnt like how you couldn't walk freely in the overworld but I guess it would have been to difficult for players to progress in the storyline if they did it that way. Still with all its week points its a good game and it isnt my favorite but it isnt my least. The sequal was a little too much and there was no need for it in my opinion. I hope they never do this to another FF title ever again. No offense to FFX-2 lovers I just couldn't stand it.

The Voice Acting for X was pretty good, I thought. There's some clunky lines, but overall, it's pretty great. The whole game is pretty much amazing.X-2 was alright. It seemed unneccesary, though. Nothing wrong with it, it just seemed like they could have made a new FF instead of tarnishing X's beautiful ending. Some sequels work, like Back to the Future II and III.Others...not so much, like Ghostbusters II.
X-2 is the Ghostbusters II of Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy X introduced many new things to the FF series. First thing that comes to mind is the voice acting as well as the sphere grid. Both seemed to compliment the game well, and helped make it into an amazing new and different FF. Fitting to be the tenth game in the series.

FF is the best after VII I mean, they took the gameplay to a higher level I like the fact you can switch party members at anytime that's way realistic you know? but I must say X-2 is kinda hmm dunno the gameplay is ok but I felt it like...dunno...

Each Final Fantasy has a few things that makes them so memorable. X was and still is the voice acting for me. Gotta say, FFX was pretty dang fun and awesome. When I saw the commercial for FFX, I thought it was a total joke. Man was I wrong. That game is awesome. Still gotta try FFX-2.

I got FFX about a month after release date since I didnt have a PS2 when it dropped, but it really didnt matter. I was excited about playing this new one because of its huge graphical improvement and with a new TV i had at the time heh. I never did fully complete FFX since i didnt finish defeating all the super bosses. I dont remember which i got up to, but several of my grids were complete and my final time in the game was somewhere around 90hrs.
FFX-2 has my absolute favorite battle system in all FFs believe it or not. The story wasnt as impressive and it didnt capture me at all. Neither did the characters. The only reason I never completed this game was because the copy of the game i had was defective. It's the only FF i never completed (besides FFXII, but thats another story entirely).

I had this game and never beat it but I was younger and was too impatient. I got FF VII after I bought this (like a year later and beat it) It was much better than X even with its outdated graphics. FF X was still fun but it didn't consume my life. X and VII are the only ones I ever played and I love the series.

Don't care for online play if it involves a mmo universe, so i wont be playing the xbox360 version. I really hope their are more comming to the xbox360, if not, then i regret that i only played XII on my ps1 and missed all the good fun on ps2. This is one game that would be worth buying a ps3 for, so its a mystery to me why sony is aiming at killzone 2 for the most part. I still hope its comming to the xbox360, but if not, i can live with it, and i hope you all will have fun with it. :(

Personally, i think Final Fantasy X was very bad, at least compared to the other games, sure it brought a lot system and graphics wise, but storyline itself was hardly epic.

Awesome! I love FFX and liked FFX-2, cause this time it was a happy ending, and the continuation of the previous unconcluded ending!
The plot and the radical changes that Yuna pass makes me wonder how could she changes so much in 1 day! But despite of that it was a good game to play, and it's a FF Series Game, so it say all for itself, don't you think? XD

I like Final Fanatsy X but honestly I think the in game graphics are average mainly of how expressionless the faces were during in game cut scenes the CG scenes were awesome though those wont get old.

What was up with that cheesy song at the end? Sounded like elevator music. *shudders*
X-2...I like this game but don't start waving the pitchforks yet. I think this video did a good job of describing why X-2 was as silly as it was, but it didn't go all the way. Spira is in an eternal calm. No more worrying about Sin and no more summoner missions to save the world. This time, the world is at peace and people are starting to live their lives. This gave a change for the SS team to have fun. I refer to X-2 as Camp (think Judy Garland movies). It was meant to be fun, ostentatious, over the top, and flashy. Is the music silly? Yes. Are the costumes fab and wacky? Yes. Were the mini-games weird? Big YES. But that was the whole point of X-2, to take the traditional and make it completely insane. X-2 has a chunk of story to go through as well. A lot of those side-quests/missions that people skipped over, well you just blew through a lot of the story. So much of the game is about trouncing through side-quests. Invariably, X-2 is a giant mini-game. You have an objective, but there are so many little things that you can do to distract you.
Not many people like X-2, and I can understand why. First glimpse of the opening cutscene, I had to stand up, walk out of the room and needed a drink. So many people say 'this isn't an FF game,' but it really is. FF is all about pushing the envelope and twisting the laws of gameplay. X-2 did that and then some. Try playing it again, but ignore the FF logic. Forget about the rules on how to pay an RPG. X-2 is Camp. It's meant to be fun and silly. RPG's don't always have to be about serious gameplay.

FF X was wicked, loved the voice choices, the music score & graphics were wicked. FF X-2 was a fun reprieve from the traditional FFs, though I don't think it was better than X, not by far. I cried so much during the ending, so sad, I got so hyped when I found out about X-2 lol

I loved the battle system in X. It was weird going back to older games with ATB 'cause I couldn't keep up. It was a nice change being able to switch party members in battle as well as controling the Aeons. My only complaint was Blitzball. I still cringe.
I kept expecting to see a tiny robot strapped to Tidus' back though 'cause his voice actor is the sam as Ratchet's from Ratchet and Clank.

FFX still fills me with joy and wonder just thinking about it! i think i am gonna start playing it again soon!
it was a magical adventure that i wont EVER forget!

Second favorite ff. Even though many argue that the story sucked, I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere of the game along with the breathtaking cinematics, voice acting, and endless replayability(for me at least) are what made this game. Anima was badass, Zanarkand one of the best ff songs, great characers, the list goes on and on. This series is why I will be buying a PS3.

ruo21 i agree wit u totaly actually up untill a week ago i finally got finished wit the game to its entirety. finaly got everyons sphere grid to the max using most of the nodes except for like 5.in my opinion and sorry all u ff7 freaks 10 just stunned my with amazing graphics that made me cry and a story that just to put it bluntly raped my mind.lol when i got more mature and started seeing the big picture i mean really looking out of the box, the whole story line is about our government in that they are corrupt and keep secrets like yevon and break there own rules(teachings).lol
y all die hard ffx gamers will get what im sayin.

karasu its probably that way for you becuase its fresh in your mind. I will always hold a special place in my heart for FF7 jsut because it was one of those games i grew up on.
and there is more to a game than graphics.

Final Fantasy X probably is one of the best RPG's on the PS2. Being that it was released years ago, if you haven't played it yet (for whatever reason), you can probably pick it up for under 10 dollars, which is totally worth every penny. X-2 is in the same financial boat, but it doesn't have that same spunk as X did. It's really only there if you liked the story of X, and if you want to keep the series going.

I don't know about these two :S , still haven't played them since I reffused to buy a PS2 , someday I'll play it, but still, FF7 definately is still one of my favourites, and still FF4 is my favourite of all, it's the best in my opinion, and I can't wait for the remake on the DS (shame on them for not making it for the Wii instead of the DS , or maybe even the PS3 or 360) anyways, these two just seem to lose the magic...

i still haven't finish FF10, i guess i'm get tired of playing the same game for a long period of hrs or too scared to finish the game, because once u finish the game, replay it is too boring and add the long hrs. but i definitely have to finish FF8, FF10, FF12 , i need to get FFX-2, wow sexy outfits, love the girls. playing those fps games, it's so hard to go play rpg game with long hrs by yourself, without online players. only FF11 lets u go online but i don't have the old ps2 and HDD. when FF13 comes out, it would be too hard for me to finish those old FF games, so i gotta finish before FF13 (good-looking graphic) comes out.

Final Fntasy X still is and probably will be my BEST GAME OF ALL TIME! best graphics of all games on ps2, best characters of any rpg ever made, best story and definately best minigame and also the amazing music all made it an overwhelming experience. I have currently completed it 3 times over and never get bored of it tbh. The first time I completed it I was left almost with tears running down my face as I didnt want it to end. No joke! It is the only game I have ever been drawn into like what I was, and when one of your characters dies, u kinda feel it. It is truely amazing how they made it so great. And the voice acting was amazing for a first time in the series,.. but I gotta say I got ffX-2 day it came out and I was deeply, deeply dissapointed. its the worst ff of all, gameplay was too fast, you didnt hav minigames as such as the others until very late in the game, no aeons/summons. rubbish music, story and characters. I cant say one good thing bout 10-2. It really sucked. worst sequel a game as ever had! if FF13 is half as good as 10 I will be proud once again of the greatest development studio in the world. SQUARE ENIX FTW!!!! ffX- 100/10
ffX-2- 7/10.(only cos of great graphics on ps2)

I have. 99,999 Auron, Yuna and Wakka. FFX is the best game ever IMO. It was the first FF I played. The musics are best in the whole frachise, characters were awesome and the second main villain was simply better than Sephiroth and Kefka. Seymour. (hes voice is funny) He is the best villain. He has good reasons why to do all that. Not any "I want to rule and dominate the world!!!" He does all that to make the world perfect by killing summoners so that they cant send the dead anymore so that every1 will be undead so there would be no pain. Think... You cant die and feel pain cause you are dead. COOLLLL!!! The voice acting was awful at sometimes but not all of the time.

No the biggest issue was the ending to X-2 when Yuna yells out 'Brother HIGHER. Brother FASTER'

My first FF game and I loved it. The storyline was deep and the music was simply the best I have heard in any game. I cried when I saw the ending of the game and this was the only game that has ever made me cry besides The Legend of Dragoon.

FF X reminds me many things, games like this don't appear constantly. But the X-2 is shit and nothing can change that, as everyone can see, Square is not trained to do sequels.

X was my first, but even so, I went and played some of hte earlier ones and found them to be just as good, howoever, X still holds a special place in my collection simply because it was my first FF.
As far as X-2 goes, I don't think it was such a horrible game by itself, but having to live up to its predecessor gave it high expections that it could not live up to, even so, I still enjoyed it.

Good coverage though X was not the first game where Summons had a HP bar. They had one in VIII, too. It replaced the character's HP bar during the summoning process.

Cool restrospective although some errors but most notably, the Celcius in X-2 is not Cid's. It was Buddy's and Brother's ship.
At the start of chapter 5, rest in the cabin, you'll here Brother whine to barkeep about his feelings, and barkeep will introduce his "Darling". Then go to the engine room and Buddy will show up and tells you how they found celcius and the name gullwing.
Basically a gull leads them to the location of the ship, but they were so hungry they had to eat it :(. It's funnier in the game though :(

I loved X overall but skipped X-2 all together because i felt Ripped off.The lack of an explorable world map and the fact that there was a CLIFF HANGER in X realy let me down.I finished VII THREE TIMES and i finished 8 and 10.I comleated a good 95% of 9 and am beating myself up for not finishing it,believe me.I cant wait for lost odyssey, did anyone notice that gt hasnt so much as mentioned sakaguchi since they covered IX?Was he even a part of X?Sakaguchi is heading lost odyssey,an XBOX360 exclusive, while Uematsu is doing the music for it.

for me x-2 was just a warm up for fans ( that faild in some way ) because between between ffx and ff11 was a long way to do and ff11have to take they own team to work on it and ff12 was on the way and its would be to long to wait between ffx and ffxii so they give a ffx-2 to wait between it i like the battle system in ffx-2 but there not much to say on my opignion

YOJIMBO!!!!!! pluuuuus blitx ball. FF10 was an awsome game and x2 was just too much love story to handle, but a good way to conclude the story and death of Titus by bringing him back. WOoT

Final Fantasy X was a staple in squares legendary reputation as being the first "next-gen" edition of their game and also the first of their series to have "real" voice acting and not just various grunts and sounds. Although Final Fantasy X broke barriers, X-2 came up short in the second coming. Although unique in its presentation, it had a weak supporting story and a seemly desperate and lude area of interest. I'd say that Final Fantasy X deserves a spot next to Final Fantasy's VI, VII, and VIII for its innovation but X-2 should be left in the back of our minds as an unfortunate mishap, where it belongs.

this game is GREAT! Lulu and Auron are my favorite characters. especially Lulu, I mean a black mage with that much high evasion? and a doll for weapon !

This happened on my final try to use a console, bought a PS2 and X2, but the console just lasted 2 weeks, can't stand consoles and they're controls, so i had to sell it, and with it went X2.
If only i had this kind of games in PC, grrrrrrrrr, damn Sony.
X-2, my second favorite.

X has a great battle and level up sistem (the best in the series in my mind this is UNLIMITED you can level up for over 300 hours and still there will be room) to bad the storyline is so bad and the ending sucked majorly, i actually like X-2 because im a sucker for the whole japanese idol theme the game refers to.

FFX is the only FF game i have played and it pwns!I almst got tears in my eyes when i heard the song for the something forest( i don't remember the name.) I never fnished the game, but i fell in love with Blitzball. It was so damn fun! This is asly one of the best RPG i've played.

final fantasy 10 was, and will quite probably always will, holds the spot as my favorite rpg ever and ties as my favorite game ever. final fantasy x2 was a bit of a let down but was still good, and 12 was good. im hoping that 13 can once again sell my heart and time to the final fantasy series

A simply amazing game. It had one of the best storylines that was my pleasure to expierience, absolutely gorgeous graphics, a rich sprawling landscape, an easy to use sphere grid system, voice acting, and an incredible score. It did everything right that other games could only wish to accomplish, and I've played it probably ten times now.

It's amazing how much fans love this game. When it was coming out, I was so excited and overwhelmed with anticipation. However, after playing over half-way through the game, for the first and only time ever, I put the controller down. I was...bored. X was magical but, could not hold my attention. Til this day, I never finished X nor X-2, and I never will. T_T

This is where I feel the Final Fantasy series started to slip. I will grant that X had some great gameplay, but the presentation felt boring and the game itself felt way too linear. X-2 held my attention for about..... half an hour. The game feels like just a cheap attempt to cash in on the success of the first one. I'll admit the battle system intrigued me, but the crappy story and mission based gameplay take too much away from it to be interesting.

FFX was my first Final Fantasy game so it holds a dear place in my heart. I really love that game but X-2 in my opinion was just horrible. It was nothing like FFX at all.

1) Please... stop saying "Tide-us"...
2) Celsius was never Cid's; Brother & Buddy found it.
Overall, many major points were touched without spoiling late-game events and revelations. Heh, "Yuna's Angels". Anyway, there was a song in there that wasn't used in FFX; was it from one of the arranged albums?

the cgi cutscenes are truly immaculate, and compared to most game ffx still beats them..imagine if it got a touch up ps3 style, with no story change. id buy it if they sold it for 100 bucks lol...

Final Fantasy X was a good game. Hardly the best Final Fantasy ever made, and ive played every single one, simply because the developers just got it wrong on the Character development stage. Tidus is the stupidest main character ever; Cloud would kick Tidus ass any day of the year.

The subtle theme FFX was trying to push foward was the BREAKING OF TRADITION.... moreover breaking of Final Fantasy tradition... this is what I concluded
The first sequel FF X/2.... broke tradition of never making a sequel to a game.
They sold out by making FF 11 Online.
And The world map was linearized.
Everything from that moment foward changed from the original vision of Final Fantasy.
Cid became a bad guy with no part of airships in FF 12.
Heroes became cheery....
The entire game converted into a Japanese Pop Culture Anime Stylized Emotionally Crippling mess.......
Thank you for reading

Cid became a bad guy with no part of airships in FF 12.
Heroes became cheery....
The entire game converted into a Japanese Pop Culture Anime Stylized Emotionally Crippling mess.......
Thank you for reading
not the best FF, but the kitten will always remember and love it.
It was the kittens first Ps2 game, and killed of a lot of hours.
It will forever have a place in my heart <3

no way, blitz ace does at least like 200,000 points of damage, cloud would have no chance with his omnislash, lol

FF 10-2 was a joke. Out of all the Final Fantasy's they could have made a direct sequel to...they chose FF 10?! It's a good game don't get me wrong, but it really didn't need a sequel.

I admit i was never a big follower of Final Fantasy, i only had 7, 10, 10-2 & 12.
I only every completed 10 but i am in no way ashamed that i cried a bit at the end of it.

The story is so good. Simple explained with voice acting.
Auron rocks by the way. He looks like my dad. If I had a

FFX had an awesome story, and I'm amazed to this day that square managed to make me care about such an unlikable character as Tidus. Nonetheless, I liked the battle system... and something about Wakka permanently ingrained a smile into my face. It's not my favorite one, but FFX was certainly a very good game. Probably my favorite part of the package was the very original score... I loved it, and it was so different from what we typically expected from FF, but still so appropriate.

i wasn't familiar with FF and at the beggining at thought that this was just a stupid game, but the and became intersted in it, the first game i play was 12 but just the begging now i am playing 10, and i have realized how wrong i was, the FF series is one of the best or the best out the, and 10 it is just awesome.
Thanks Exquare Enix for making one of the must loving, entertaining game.

Please read this entirely before you rate me........
This not an attack but an understanding, point of view, and a reasoning shared by many
Before you read this understand that I love the series, atleast 1-6, my only debate is the fact that the difference between 1-6 and 7-13 is drastic and straying from FF's true path due to a change in crew placed on creating this marvelous series.
FINAL FANTASY IS DYING.........what I mean is, they are straying from FF's tru vision. I left many comments for each FF retrospective, except 11 of which I feel was just blasphemy and hope you read them. I loved the old FF games not because of their classic 2d rpg glory but also because of their multi-cultural influences that aren't represented strictly in their summons as all the Final Fantasy's are today. The only thing multi cultural in FF's today is that Barret is black and the summons like Odin and Shiva. I miss the European feel of the old Final Fantasy's which bring in other influences like the Chinese with Yang and his castle (I forget the name) with everyone running around yelling achoo while still keeping its Japanese influences with characters like Shadow, an emo Ninja with a persona everyone loves.
But now its all about big fancy swords.... outrageous haircuts..... and bright cheery Japanese pop culture now......... and lets not forget about Japanese pervertedness------- for example----------;;; Tifa, Lulu, Le Blanc, FFX 2 Dress Spheres, all the lesbian scenes in FFX/2, FFX/2 itself............... Ever since that new crew and director was added to FF 6........... every ff after it became strictly Japanese. I'm not making a hatespeech against the Japanese, I'm making a statement to where I think the FF series is going, and that is away from the original vision. So far away that it will be hard pressed to reclaim it. And lastly, this new Final Fantasy is supposed to have been influenced by the Vagrant story and FF Tactics timeline and history which was European, that's all well and good but they are still doing what they have always been since FF 7, straying from the original vision, never has a FF title ever been influenced by a past title, but its even worse yet its not even from the numerical sequence, Tactics...... Vagrant Story........ the hero is Storm............. obviously a pun to Cloud of FF 7 which is yet another broken rule, first ever, a name is used which is influenced by a past title's hero's name. Before anything is spoken, Cid was never a hero, and he was a series staple, Cloud was not, they just used his hype to make this character.
But even if I don't like it I loved FF 7 even if it is based on the new age of FF games but FF 6 is still my favorite.
Please don't get me wrong I love this retrospective and the FF series, but I loved FF 1-6 most of all because of obvious reasons

From minute 10:50 to 10:53 the dresspheres are: dark knight, berserker, and the last one, which is probably the one you're asking what it is, a japanese exclusive dressphere. I can't recall the name, but it wasn't available in the EU/US versions of the game unfortunately.

Lol, it was only on the ones concerned, which was obivously up to FF X, I haven't left anymore passed this one and for your information, its not hurting you, I'm simply making a point where whichever retrospective a person watches would understand and lastly, it'll disappear in a day into page 2 so, I'm simply explaining a strong feeling that will eventually fade within a few comments, I don't feel I wasted my time, but your attack is needless and a waste of time. I won't do what you say so what was the point? If only to get ppl to side with you just because of your attempts, it just seems foolish. Its no surprise you made this attack on my last comment in the FF retrospectives though. It wasn't because of you so don't get a big head.

Loved it, but my god, what went though there heads, when they were making FFX-2? God... I loved the battle system, but the story was so.... Carlies Angels... God I hated that... but never then less, I went though it, I only complete 98% of it... That was enough for me.

ffx was the ff game that i spent more time on than any other game, i had all 7 of the characters fill up the entire sphere grid ( believe me that took a lot of time ) and i had all their ultimate weapons except for tidus ( i just could'nt win that damn balloon chocobo race and believe me i've wasted days trying )
ffx was definitely mt favourite with auron being my best character

This is the only FF retrospective I don't like. They barely mentioned how popular FFX is, they described the storyline completely wrong, and why the hell do they consider X-2 part of the main series? Eh...
This retrospective just didn't do it justice. It didn't come CLOSE.

X-2 was terrible. Lame story, lame characters boo i can still remember the chick rock video haha.

Good ol' times, that was the first game I got for my PS2. Never liked Tidus or Wakka, but the rest of the cast was gold. Personal preference I suppose. It was a great game though.

Good thing that the first voice acting milestone was HA HA HA HA!

I hated the ending of this game. I never could accept X-2 as a sequel to this game though. It didn't have that essence that FFX had. I loved this game though. Not as much as I like Legend of the Dragoon (which I have yet to beat) but it is up on the top shelf. Now, I need to play FF VII.

That music that plays when the X comes up is like the signature music for final fantsay X... i reckon ffx is better than ffx-2 beacuse the dresspheres got a bit confusing but anyway, i didnt end up finishing the game because my da sold it thinking that it was final fantasy x... i got just past beating the 3 sister aeon things (cindy mindy and the other one), can someone tell me how far through the game i got? in a percentage

i loved final fantasy X....one of the best rpgs that SE made besides FF7 and FF8.
I played a little bit of FF X-2...don't know why people bad mouth it. Voice acting is about the same as FF X....i guess the storyline goes downhill as you progress through the game?

X-2 is a great game...I think people got turned off by it because it was SO freakin girlie...which, yeah, gets annoying, but underneath that is great gameplay and a great storyline...the mission system gets a bit tedious at times as well, and it's by no means the best FF at all, but it's a very well done game

FFX is probably my personal favorite Final Fantasy, and it only beat VII for me because of the opening cinema. Just listening to Rammstein in a Final Fantasy game was like bread and butter. It was unexpected, but simply INCREDIBLE.

FFX was a great game with a really solid story (love love LOVED) the religious conspiracy Yu Yevon idea.
However...my major gripe with it was the up and down all over the place drama.
Example: The characters mildly chuckle and Tidus says he can't remember the last time he'd laughed that hard. Really???
Example: Two minutes after finding out Seymore had brutally murdered the entire Ronso race the characters are skipping and laughing and playing like they were hopping down the yellow-brick road or something.
Still, really good game. My favorite battle system overall--the tag-team approach.

Still, really good game. My favorite battle system overall--the tag-team approach.
The theme is amazing. both games were good but FFX was well better. FFX was an amazing game which did derserve better sequal. They should have focused more on Tidus

The game is awesome, it truly is. I love the music, the graphics, the game play and the story specially for ff X.
The beginning video for X-2 is awesome too.
FF X is the only ff game I have passed and the most beautiful video game story I have seen.
10-10, good retrospective.

FF X was the first final fantasy that I got my hands on several years ago for my birthday. I heard about it so much that I decided to try it for myself and see what the buzz was all about with the series. I couldn't stop playing it when I got it. I had so much fun with leveling up, the story, pretty much all of it. I'd love to go back sometime and do it all over.
X-2 was also enjoyable. Definitely different, but it was fun. I could never get the 100% ending having tried twice, but after the second time, I just couldn't bring myself to play the same 20 hours to do all the missions again in just the hope that I would get it. Fun, but frustrating, that's how I would describe it.

My first Final Fantasy experience... brings back so much memories T_T. Knowing now the history behind the game makes it so much more worthwhile. GAck. Hearing the music makes me want to play again *goes to look for mah PS2*

i don't know why, but i never really cared for 10. It wasn't a bad game, i just like active time so much more....
and the story always seemed so....distant or inapplicable or something.

By far FFX was my favorite of all ((Besides FF6)). I loved everything about it, the Sphere system, Blitzball and all of the other characters ((Wakka and Lulu where my favorite :P)). But when I heard about a new FFX, I almost shit my pants.... But sadly I released it just was shit..

i liked both games but the blitz league was a piece of crap that relied on luck, and some of the ememies and item locations in 10-2 were for people who didn't have a computer and had NO life.

I'd have to say that X's success was mainly due to its voice-overs. Still, this was an incredible game, and I enjoyed it, and the musical scores were by far, the best in the series.

They are oddly the only two FF games in the main series I haven't finished :\... (A part from FF online ofc which I also never played).
I am not saying it is a bad game before anyone gets angry or takes this to mean that I hate the pair (actually thought the leveling grid was an amazing system); Just that I found X to be the weakest main FF game yet.
I never got into FFX or it's sequel...

WHAT!!?? i thought X-2 was amazing, i love the job and ap system. i do admit though that the story sucked and it always bothered me that i ended the game with only 99%... everytime... I EVEN USED THE FREAKING GUIDE!!! XO

FFX had its flaws but it was still a really enjoyable game. I know I liked it a lot more than VIII (which I never finished because I really hated the junction system)
FF has missed something for me in the last few games though. I don't know if it's just because I'm nostalgic or not though.

i really gotta agree with you on that one..ffX dug a deep hole with the old ps2. those were the good ol days....and up to this day, i think its still the best game ive ever played.

FFX was amazing. And X-2 mocks everything in this world. Truly, one of the worst games ever created by the hands of man... Or whatever made it. Most likely Satan.

i never finished VI. i just hated the mulitple-party-dungeons. but ive only played 4-7. i have 4 and 6 for the super nintendo, and 5, 6, and 7 for the PS. im the luckiest FF fan evar, my quite insane friend gave me a crap load of super nintendo and PS games, including FF7, FF2 (4), F-zero, and tons of others. i think i got like 150-200 US dollars of games! :D :) (i get those figures from an esitmate of getting them off ebay or gamestop.)
ZOMFG!!! THE BLACK MAGES SHALL RULE TEH UNIVERSE OVER A KINGDOM OF TEH DEAD!!! THEY ALREADY GOT MY AVITAR!
go to nuklearpower.com NOW! read dah comic, it should kill a few or many very hilarious hours. (DO IT)

At first 10 didn't excite me much, but when I tried it again a little while later I got into it. I think one thing I liked was how the male lead wasn't withdrawn like previous ones. He was likeable Now to me X-2 is the exact opposite. It just felt so disjointed.

It took me four years to start playing the game cuz the voice-overs were horrible. They sounded worse than the worse jap-anime you could think of. But once I started actually playing the game I realized that the game has a hidden appeal to it that not just the hardcore ff-fanboy-nerds could appreciate but all fans.
PS--- All the other Final Fantasy's trump ten AND X-2 though :)

I know most would say 7, 8, 9, and maybe 6, but 10, 10 is my first and favorite final fantasy, that isn't to say i did not play and enjoy the others, but 10 will always have a place in my heart as the first game to make me cry and the first game to give me goosebumps, to this day, when ever i hear the hymm of the faith i get goose bumps and franticly seek out the source of the sound. I will always love this game, and will always love square for giving the world Final Fantasy X.

FFX was the main and only reason I got a PS2... heck, Final Fantasy is the only reason I bought the PS3 even though I knew that the game will take hella long to release... Anyways I find FFX very beautiful for the PS2. And FFX-2 wasn't actually that bad, I enjoyed it.

Ok...First of all: Do not use the word ''jap'' it's just racist and stupid. Second: The VA in X isn't that bad. It's not extremely good but it doesn't suck.
other than that, I agree.
I'd like to buy a PS2 so I can play through X. It looks interesting. I have seen a friend play it through and I WANT IT!

I've played all of the FF's save for FFII, and I'm here to say that FFX and FF6 are my favorites. This game was an amazing piece of artwork, that had it's flaws, but was so stunningly shown. I loved all of the characters and for those who didn't get a chance to play it i HIGHLY recommend FFX International. The game is completely in english and has an entirely revamped sphere grid that allows for fully customizable characters right off the bat.
So if you're ever thinking about playing this game again, getting a hold of a mod chip (illegal i know) or a japanese ps2 and playing FFX international is SO worth it.
FFX-2 was a fun game, game play-wise... but as a grown man it's sort of hard to play and not be embarrassed. The Themes and characters were so j-pop it hurt. And the story was meh. imo
Other then that ffx was a fantastic experience, with a story way way better then the over-hyped 7 and the bland as stale bread 8. I often wish people would stop their incessant fanboy/girl-isms and give more credit to this game for it being a masterpiece. But to each their own i guess :(

A direct sequel to a Final Fantasy game.
---Of all the games, they chose the one that didn't leave any loose ends.
Exactly which factor made Square believe X-2 was a good idea?
If not my favorite, FF10 is my second favorite in the series.
I just wish they had gone with something that made more sense; like a prequel detailing the great war of the past, rather than a direct sequel where none was needed.

Garment Grids

There's a flaw in the retrospective though.
It says that for the first time in FF history GF's have a health-meter. This is incorrect. GF's had health-meters in FF8 also. During a summoning GF's could be KO'd.

i love final fantasy 10!
love this
Anyways, personally, I didn't like 10 all that much. It was alright but I still liked the previous ones that I've played better. Great video though.
FF 4 LIFE
Wakka was funny. I also loved Blitzball, I swear I played it so much, almost half my time overall.
The piano theme song always gets to me. It's so beautiful.
I also remember the Aeon tests. They were pretty tricky.
Oh yeah.. Rikku..... good ol' Rikku :).
im with u on that one
FFX was wonderful....Amano art is awesome by the way...
FFX-2 was good too^^
Oh and it's TEEdus, not TIEdus, the person who plays him says so on the dvd...
I LOVE X & X-2!!!!!!!!
yeah, they seem to be taking longer to go on...
i wish i could forget these 2 so i could re-play them.
bring on FFXIII squeenix!!!
(and the DS DQ remakes)
Final Fantasy.. Best Series Ever!
High five!!!
Who runs like that?!
me too i love X it was ma first ps2 game and ma favorite rpg game of all time i wish they had another story for tidus and yuna
LOL! Y'know it!
lol, all you've got after 10 is 12. 11's online, and everything else isn't a final fantasy unless it has a roman numberal at the end.
But yeah even though I didn't like the style of 10 it was a pretty solid game. A little too easy though up until near the end.
Ha Easy?
Only the Main Story, try beating all the dark Aeon's and Penance!
I can't wait until they do the FF Tactics games. FFT for the PS1 was probably one of my favorite FF games ever.
Me, I've not even played a single second of any one of them.
It's called "This is your Story"
FF X is one of my favorite. FF X-2 is not so great but its playable.
WOWOWOWO wait a minute its TEEDUS NOT TYDUS hes pronouncing it wrong
shame shame
Well it is possible that they could go and cover the spin off games and the game boy games. That should take several episodes.
Sorry it doesn't have guns or aliens and such.
Keep in mind, there's FF12, FF7:Adventchildren, FF7:Dirge of Cerberus, FF:Tactics, FF7:BEfore crisis,FF7:Core Crisis, FF13, FF VS 13..
in other words...plenty:P
k, for one you need to work on your grammar
second, wtf do u mean its for gay?
like only gay people play it or it's a gay game?
either way it's just a retarded comment
ff7 is the most expanded series in ff universe
coming out soon is psp games like dissidia and crisis core
plus there was the movie and dirge of cerebus of course
i doubt they'll remake the original thou
I thought the game could have been better, but what we got was a good, solid RPG. There's no complaining about that.
one of my favs
the creators said that they will keep expanding possible things for the ff7 universe for a couple more years. ffX was pretty fun, i enjoyed it. and i believe the nameless king in FF13 is ganna be the next cloud icon.
Ahh, FFX-2 was okay but just that. I think after seeing the ending of X, i was just loving the opportunity to dive back into the world of Spira. Thats what made it so fun, i guess. Well and the battle system, i loved the fast-pace of it!
FFX2 was a pile of dump. i beat it in one day.
Me, I've not even played a single second of any one of them.
Same here, but somehow i really love the series, maybe from the movies and music.
i have x-2 but i have never played it lol
yeah good job, game trailers
GREAT VIDEO!
why clic in the link that clearly says FF retrospective then? are you sure that you are able to read??? Anyways, I;ve only played the X-2 and was ok, but don't know thw whole story, but for what the guy was taling about, it seems every FF is a different story, Am I right?
well i say final fantasy series is the best final fantasy game ever how bout thaT.
hopely VIII is going be even greater :)

they went through the 7 series already
On what do you base this proclamation?
tee-dus, as you claim, cannot be pronounced in Japanese, it would sound like chi-da-su or ta-i-da-su
And in English there's no rule determining how to pronounce a word spelled "Tidus"
Also it's a name, which already means you can pronounce it any way you want (including tee-dus) and it was never spoken by any character in the game because you could change his name in the beginning.
^_^
That drove me crazy throughout the whole vid lol

Actually, the correct way to say his name is (tee-dus). It was in an interview and the man said his name was pronounced (tee-dus).
X=sad,,, X-2=happy
OK!
and it was a great jump in graphics for the series and better than 9 9 was great Im not saying it wasnt but the ending kinda wasnt :-( really sad cause it all looked like something was happening and then like they ran out of story and ended it blunt. but well that my opinion. And all you dumb fucks saying its gay let me tell U that U are more gay 4 saying zhitt like that! HAh :-D
back to FF this retro thingy is great and I repeat! FF X & X-2 are cool different a new perspective in the series :-) Just luvin the FF universe :-)

Alright, Kay-leen-san.
Actually "ti" is a valid spelling and pronunciation variant. Certainly the majority of speech is "chi", but like all languages, the Japanese also have regional accents.
I mean, yeah, they're kinda obvious, but there are still people out there who may have to have it pointed out before they'd notice.
X will always have a place in my heart. *My first FF*
ff is the only rpg i like....all the other ones have shitty stories
agreed
me too, mine was a demo of X though and then i got it 2 years later
FFX-2 was bubbling bad.
X will always have a place in my heart. *My first FF*
me to!!!
I was wondering the same thing.
Easily.
I hated 12s characters and plot.
X-2 was weak.
this game is truely a system seller. i do not play WOW but even that doesn't look nearly as good as FF. IMO
Oh yeah and about FFX-2, I have to say it was god awful
fun at first but ended up giving it away within a few months
FFX-2 wasn't great but, but you have to admit it was a bold move to make a FF like FFX-2, that's something right.
Aside from the cool job switching in battle.
In case you don't know this by now, Amano was the official illustrator of the first six FF games. The art style of those games is so greatly different from Nomura's style in the latter games.
nouf said :P
Mistwalker FTW!
...'roid rage...
and yea they did that one already. it was the one before this. its part VI of this retrospective.
X-2 is possibly the worst.
Did they forget to mention that? They also said FFX had a happy ending. Anyone who's finished it knows that's completely wrong. The bad guys were killed, but it was hardly "happy".
FFX's ending is my favourite FF ending.
FF XI was really bad
it died on X. i didnt enjoy it as much as other people have. althought i must admit 12 made a come back in the ff series.
but i'm still with FFIX.
X-2 was a bit of a let down, the best part of the whole game was the credits before the menu screen. That song was awsome ("Eternity ~ Memories of Light and Wave").
lol
yea i think it was the previous ep
Also I never understood why all the complains about FFX's voice acting... I thought it was pretty good for the time, way above the average of any other RPG featuring voice acting back then. And Square only improved since that, FFXII in my opinion has the best voice acting I have heard in any RPG.
Just a little question to wrap it up: in the video the narrator called FFX's airship "Fahrenheit"... I don't remember that being said in the game at all. Is it official info? It makes sense though, considering FFX-2's airship is the "Celsius".
Then X-2 comes along and takes all the character and places I came to love in X and threw them in a soap opera. The gameplay wasn't the greatest but it was far from broken but the story sucked so hard I can't help but hate that game. There, I said my peace.

X-2 was just okay, I don't hate it (mostly) just wished it was better.
and the music is just amazing
the job system was really good imo but the acting was worthless and story was stupid and confusing... very easy to get lost in the pointless side-stories which most of them wasnt actualy worth doing
in X and most other FF games u had the normal story path and tons and tons of aditional stuff you COULD do but didnt have to... like getting the ulitmate weps and such.... in X-2 this was almost impossible to know if you were doing or not due to the story system
i also heard that the game was made to make more girls play the game.... and yeah... we all know how many like those "female" games.... girls dont like em themself either
Yeah X-2 was an ok game but i liked FFX the most.
Great vid the next one should be good.
Its looks amazing
x-2 is crap though
ah the memories...
Cu, Limbo.
Uhm... yea... I have.
Me And Yunie 4Ever XD
And am I the only person alive who absolutely adored X-2? It had such a unique feel to it and the dress sphere system was awesome. I personally thought it was legendary.
Exactly
i feel the same great game
I did play through X-2, but the game seemed to become all about lining up lucky sevens with the lady luck slots to bride enemies once finnished with the main story. It was ok but not great.
Not just a groundbreaking game, but also amazing experience to play.
It was one hell of an experience that I wish never stopped. meh.. :p
the music does suck. X-2 is the only final fantasy that i've played. and i hear it is the worst in the series. i didnt think it was all that bad. maby i should get another FF game...
after FF7 the best one
Thank you GT!
I loved that, it was so good. That and the Hymn of the Faith were so damn good. X was my fave FF, followed by IX. X-2 was OK, loved the battle system, but it didnt have a story 'till chapter 4 really.
thanks thanks !!!
100/10
Character designs weren't bad. This was the game before Nomura became a TOTAL hack.
And, well, FFX-2 speaks for itself. The further downward spiral, since Square figured out they could sell shoddy products just by having Final Fantasy in the title, so they stopped putting the effort in. And started ruining greats like FFVII.
Retrospective was pretty good. A little rough on some story details though. Did S-E insist they not spoil the plot of these entries either?
That is the best part..
x-2 was an important step in the final fantasy series.
I miss that game :( But in 2008 comes FF XIII on Ps3 but i have an 360 so that's bummer :(
i have to seriously disagree with that. x was the last great ff, and x-2 was a horrible abomination.
This is truly the best game ever!!! I think I'm gonna go play it now:p
o MAN u suck the big one here i didnt sell its on the top 20 of all time it sold millions and millions the story was the best in final fantasy im an ffx fan boy but for good reason its the best game of all time thats why fuck ff7 there i said it its overrated it was goood for awhile then it got old
Same here
Oh, and I'm pretty sure summons had life meters in FF 8.
but only one i played
And yes im playing ffxi
X is one of the best because of Yojimbo. :D
FFX was awesome!!! Best story yet!!! (my opinion) But i disliked FFX2...the music was terrible!
it'd be ok if they just had dead air time...i just want to get a little more before the next clip
Now you better not say anything bad about FFXI and do a good job! ><;
FFX was awesome!!! Best story yet!!! (my opinion) But i disliked FFX2...the music was terrible!
feel sry that you waited that long
Have to disagree with you there 12 is pretty boring and has the shortest story ever in ff although its better than x-2 which was a complete chick flick
Shit on rice lmfao!!!
Some animations and gestures got quite annoying.
The story was so good!
FFX and FFVII are my favrouite Final Fantasies.
FFX-2 wasn't THAT bad, but when compared to FFX (and most other FFs)...
It would've been even shorter that way...
Can't wait to see FFXI, IMO its an extremely underrated MMORPG. Amazing.
i don't own it but when i played it for about 4 hours at my friends house it seemed to be a great game
combat is fast and addicting
compared to the painfully slow ffx
which was still a good game
ROFL no it wasn't.
FF7/FF8/FF10/Skies Of Arcadia/Chrono Cross >>> FF9
What I meant was that X was(and will be) the last good FF, the next "true FF" games are coming from mistwalker
Seeing the retrospective to FF11 should be pretty good as this is the only one I haven't played
it will probably the most popular game n pc
and i will buy it for any price
FFX RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ouf of 10
Imagine what they'll be like on PS3... 0_0
Ugh...
I really liked the music in the game too, so much actaully that I ended up playing them on Piano. I hope that the next soundtracks on FFXIII are just as memorable.
oh, you really missed something, you really should have given it at least 5 hours to judge weather you should continue or not...
ffX was one of my first ps2 two games.. it contains so many great memories! i spent over 70 hours playing it... i never played a game like that again, thats a shame really. i count on you, ffXIII !!
true :-D
well everyone does mistakes.
Looking forward to next week's cause I never played XII, but I've always been interested in it.
ff10 is good to
X is probably one of my favorite stories in the series and I think that X-2 only made the story better.
FF X and X-2!!!!
- VelociRaptorLee!
i still rmember when i saw the 10-2 commercial when i knew nothing about the final fantasy. i was thinking well i sure haven't miss out on a good franchise
I would love to see a Dragon Quest retro. That would be awesome. Dragon Quest is a huge rival to Final Fantasy, and the games were really awesome. Too bad not many gamers in the United States know about it.
These retrospectives are neat, I like em.
its the only game ive ever played that really touches my emotions...
even ff7 didnt do that
i need to buy X-2 now...ive never played it lol
i want to see what happens
its obvious yuna and *Cough**cough* find each other again..
but how?
wow
I hope they fully cover each expansion >_ > so far XI has the richest story lines to date and they keep getting better ^^
Good work on this episode!
I kept thinking magical girl transformation sequences though
They afraid they can't do it cuz it like the legened that can't be repeated !!
I loved FF10. It may have been my favorite in the series. Probably becuase it was the one I got most into.
Oh well.
These Retrospectives make you want to go out and buy the game at this very instant.
Just one question, does anybody know what song plays at 1:22? Or atleast where it's from?
Its FFX's main theme song.
Except FFXII is turn-based, Einstein.
I wish that game had never been made)
I for one had no problem with Tidus as some others do.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't agree more with you!
I love FF games!
I completely agree.
Ps I agree with the sphere grid being the best. but not the nymber XII being the worst I just thought it was as good as VIII: good but not great.
but cool retrospective
It's a day late...
it wasnt 10 that first had it.
On another note, FFX was actually the second time Summons were given a health bar, the first being VIII, I'm sure alot of people caught that mistake.
/Farsot
you have to play it and end it. you will love the ending!
Excellent call. Noted.
The graphics are fantastic.
Pretty much everything (even the voice acting) was great.
It would've been even shorter tha
i guess >.>
QUIT your wining!!! FFX-2 was pretty good! X was AWESOME tho even tho the VA kinda sucked, hell it was the first try! Beatiful game
X-2 is the Ghostbusters II of Final Fantasy.
shut up
Really?
you know that there is more than a million people that think you are a idiot.....go play pacman
Clint Splattering
1: ps2
2: soul cal 3
3: memory card
And i won. but there were only 3 players uncluding myself...
talk about getting screwed over (for them) lolol
But i loved 10!
The plot and the radical changes that Yuna pass makes me wonder how could she changes so much in 1 day! But despite of that it was a good game to play, and it's a FF Series Game, so it say all for itself, don't you think? XD
I kept expecting to see a tiny robot strapped to Tidus' back though 'cause his voice actor is the sam as Ratchet's from Ratchet and Clank.
it was a magical adventure that i wont EVER forget!
y all die hard ffx gamers will get what im sayin.
Actually, The United-States do...
and there is more to a game than graphics.
!!!
I've only seen the gameplay from watching my sister play but it was still great
ffX-2- 7/10.(only cos of great graphics on ps2)
ffx-2 pretty fun
No the biggest issue was the ending to X-2 when Yuna yells out 'Brother HIGHER. Brother FASTER'
...wel maybe besides Final Fantasy VIi!
THERE I SAID IT!!!!
I DONT LIKE FFVII!
Sayonara
As far as X-2 goes, I don't think it was such a horrible game by itself, but having to live up to its predecessor gave it high expections that it could not live up to, even so, I still enjoyed it.
It's funnier in the game though :(
FFX-2 can sucka meh ballz
This happened on my final try to use a console, bought a PS2 and X2, but the console just lasted 2 weeks, can't stand consoles and they're controls, so i had to sell it, and with it went X2.
If only i had this kind of games in PC, grrrrrrrrr, damn Sony.
i HAVE EVER PLAY
Heard some bad things about 10-2 though.
And it rules! :p
man that sucks
And it rules! :p
Same here, FFX is my favorite game EVER!
2) Celsius was never Cid's; Brother & Buddy found it.
Overall, many major points were touched without spoiling late-game events and revelations. Heh, "Yuna's Angels". Anyway, there was a song in there that wasn't used in FFX; was it from one of the arranged albums?
GT rocks
The first sequel FF X/2.... broke tradition of never making a sequel to a game.
They sold out by making FF 11 Online.
And The world map was linearized.
Everything from that moment foward changed from the original vision of Final Fantasy.
Cid became a bad guy with no part of airships in FF 12.
Heroes became cheery....
The entire game converted into a Japanese Pop Culture Anime Stylized Emotionally Crippling mess.......
Thank you for reading
It was the kittens first Ps2 game, and killed of a lot of hours.
It will forever have a place in my heart <3
No Final Fantasy X did very good.
FF X-2 = Joke of an FF game >p
At least I think so.
Amen! I loved especially FFX's storyline... heartbreaking and soulshaking^^... but X-2 wasn't even nearly as good... and the battlesystem was also better in FFX...
I only every completed 10 but i am in no way ashamed that i cried a bit at the end of it.
Auron rocks by the way. He looks like my dad. If I had a
camera I made a picture lol :P
Great game
Thanks Exquare Enix for making one of the must loving, entertaining game.
Lol, you really should take a pix of your dad and set it as your icon. XD
Anyway, I love all FF series, the story rockz so much! Another 10/10 video!
The best FF in my opinion.
i know what you mean. id buy a ps3 just to get ffXIII, mgs4 would just be a bonus.
same here i used to hate ff games until my friend got me into ffx the story kicked ass ffx-2 was pretty good but ffx was way beter
agreed.
STOP spamming all the retrospectives with your viewpoint, we get it and i agree in part but to read this on no less than 12 times gets old fast :)
What a franchise this FF is...
Loved it, but my god, what went though there heads, when they were making FFX-2? God... I loved the battle system, but the story was so.... Carlies Angels... God I hated that... but never then less, I went though it, I only complete 98% of it... That was enough for me.
yeah it felt soo damn shallow compaired to FFX
Yeah, after FF9 everything went down hill(exept for the graphics)
This was ironically the first and last ps2 game I played before i got the ps3
Well, good luck to all of you.
X-2 was unnecessary.
The ending in FFX was perfect. They should've left it at that.
Yeah, couldent have said it better my self
I agree with you. Vivi is a close second.
No, Since the Fayth were destroyed, summoning was not possible.
its a tie between X and XII, XII was pretty amazing i must say
ffx was definitely mt favourite with auron being my best character
and as FF7 to the PS1, also FF10 to the PS2
it is the best.
same here
I recommend u buy it. It's not the best, but definitely worth to play.
same here
Buddy ten is so awesome one of my fav games ever... you suck
This retrospective just didn't do it justice. It didn't come CLOSE.
its mostly the bad voiceing that makes people hate it its ok to me but the voices do get annoying
I wane have this movie for my psp.
FF-X rules :]
I will enver forget that epic journey
X-2 was terrible. Lame story, lame characters boo i can still remember the chick rock video haha.
X-2 waz the first FF game i finished. But i had hoped X would be longer than it waz
Same =) I believe it IS the best RPG on the PS2
Good thing that the first voice acting milestone was HA HA HA HA!
I'm gonna play it much more :).
I played a little bit of FF X-2...don't know why people bad mouth it. Voice acting is about the same as FF X....i guess the storyline goes downhill as you progress through the game?
However...my major gripe with it was the up and down all over the place drama.
Example: The characters mildly chuckle and Tidus says he can't remember the last time he'd laughed that hard. Really???
Example: Two minutes after finding out Seymore had brutally murdered the entire Ronso race the characters are skipping and laughing and playing like they were hopping down the yellow-brick road or something.
Still, really good game. My favorite battle system overall--the tag-team approach.
Me too I got a ps2 just to play it
Me too I got a ps2 just to play it
yep, same here. this is probably my fav, use ta be 7 but it's kinda annoying now.
I lol'd
The beginning video for X-2 is awesome too.
FF X is the only ff game I have passed and the most beautiful video game story I have seen.
10-10, good retrospective.
I disagree, you suck.
your face is is the biggest pile of shit among all faces in the world.
the hell's wrong with you, if you don't like the game, move away from it idiot.
X-2 was also enjoyable. Definitely different, but it was fun. I could never get the 100% ending having tried twice, but after the second time, I just couldn't bring myself to play the same 20 hours to do all the missions again in just the hope that I would get it. Fun, but frustrating, that's how I would describe it.
and the story always seemed so....distant or inapplicable or something.
Other than blitzball, X was amazing in every possible way.
and blitzball for me is addictive
They are oddly the only two FF games in the main series I haven't finished :\... (A part from FF online ofc which I also never played).
I am not saying it is a bad game before anyone gets angry or takes this to mean that I hate the pair (actually thought the leveling grid was an amazing system); Just that I found X to be the weakest main FF game yet.
WHAT!!?? i thought X-2 was amazing, i love the job and ap system. i do admit though that the story sucked and it always bothered me that i ended the game with only 99%... everytime... I EVEN USED THE FREAKING GUIDE!!! XO
FF has missed something for me in the last few games though. I don't know if it's just because I'm nostalgic or not though.
i really gotta agree with you on that one..ffX dug a deep hole with the old ps2. those were the good ol days....and up to this day, i think its still the best game ive ever played.
Right. And VII topped VI.

Oh Yuna..... *o*
But to each their own i guess :(
Screw 'em
Final Fantasy X2 was just awful
Garment Grids
Songstress
A direct sequel to a Final Fantasy game.
---Of all the games, they chose the one that didn't leave any loose ends.
Exactly which factor made Square believe X-2 was a good idea?
If not my favorite, FF10 is my second favorite in the series.
I just wish they had gone with something that made more sense; like a prequel detailing the great war of the past, rather than a direct sequel where none was needed.
lol
It says that for the first time in FF history GF's have a health-meter. This is incorrect. GF's had health-meters in FF8 also. During a summoning GF's could be KO'd.
X2 is shit
