Notes
1. Theme is Bandwidth Heavy
I know. It’s emulating a well known GUI from a neat looking operating
system, also known for it’s heaviness. What did you expect? :) If this is
really a problem for you, either don’t use the theme or take a look below
at “Tips and Tricks” to find out how to force the default sub-theme to
be the “Lightweight” theme.

2. Some things aren’t in the right place
I know, I may have bucked WordPress theme tradition and placed things in
weird places, or changed the way some “holy” things display information,
but I disagreed with the way they were doing things, and I’m not one to
follow the rules if the rules are stupid. If you disagree, feel free to
modify the theme to your liking.

Tips and Tricks
1. User Changed Sub-Themes
Don’t forget, there are multiple Sub-Themes, not just the default black/blue
“Void” theme. If your viewers change this theme, that change only appears
for them, and reappears each time they visit, that is if they allow cookies.

2. User Options
By editing useroptions.php using the Theme Editor, you can make some really cool
modifications to the theme. Here’s the rundown:
# Option to Display Pages or Categories along TaskBar
# Option to show/not show Child Page/Category Popups
# Option to set the default sub-theme.
# Option to give visitors a random theme on first visit
# Option to show QuickLaunch area. See useroptions.php for more info.
# Option to “Roll Off” the Task Bar buttons if you have too many pages to fit.
# Option to change clock to 24 hour (military) format

  1. Dennis says:

    and how is it posibel to disable child function? because everywhere it says only ‘no child paged…’

  2. inanis says:

    Good question. There is no setting anywhere you can set to turn off the child page popups. I will consider adding this as an option in the next version.

  3. Dave Parker says:

    Cool, I really like this theme, nice work!

  4. Eric Chang says:

    Is it possible to add my own HTML code in sidebar ?

  5. Marc says:

    I keep getting this when attempting to install and then after installation as well.

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘&’, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home/content/s/i/m/simmonsmj/html/eyenstein.net/wordpress/wp-content/themes/inanis-glass/functions.php on line 117

  6. inanis says:

    Thanks Dave!

    Eric, yes, you can. You can either:
    1) Edit sidebar.php manually and do whatever you want, I don’t care.
    - or -
    2) Go into the admin of your blog, go to “design”, then “widgets” and add a Text/HTML widget. You can put whatever you want to inside one of those.

    Marc, I am aware of this. I fixed this as soon as I found out about it and re-uploaded a new revision to WordPress Extend. This is the PHP4 bug I noted on my theme’s page. Once the WordPress people approve the updated version, you can grab a copy of that and that will fix the problem.

  7. Robert D says:

    I get the same error:
    Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘&’, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home/content/s/i/m/simmonsmj/html/eyenstein.net/wordpress/wp-content/themes/inanis-glass/functions.php on line 117″

    is there a fix acvaiable yet for this?

  8. inanis says:

    Robert,

    The fix is sitting on WordPress’ server waiting for their approval. I don’t know what is taking so long for them to approve it.

    If you need it faster, shoot over to my Contact Me page and send me an email. I can send it to you.

  9. Alonzo H says:

    Do not seem find useroptions.php “By editing useroptions.php using the Theme Editor, you can make some really cool modifications to the theme.”

    Wanted to change the default subtheme.

  10. Eric D. says:

    This is an very nice them and its like a lot of hard work went into it.

    I am getting an error when I published the theme that I was trying to find the fix for.

    Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/s/y/s/syscntrl/html/wp-content/themes/inanis-glass/footer.php on line 216

    Any ideas on what is wrong in that string that i can update?

    <div onmouseover=”hovmhov();” onmouseout=”unhovmhov();” class=”mhov” id=”hov” style=”position:absolute;bottom:0;left:px;”>

    <?php
    if ($value){echo $value;}
    else {echo (”No Child Pages…”);}
    $count = $count +1;
    ?>

  11. inanis says:

    @Alonzo: The readme is 1 version ahead. The useroptions.php will be available in 1.2

    @Eric D: I emailed you a fix.

  12. Theme Prices says:

    Hey Inanis,

    congratulations on making it to the WP index! This theme is amazing and I have downloaded it for a couple of blogs. Are you planning on releasing a premium version? If so, let me know and I will feature it in the site.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  13. Hey inanis,

    Thanks for the info on setting the default subtheme in my version 1.0.01.

    The theme is super. You did a real fine job.

  14. inanis says:

    Salutations!

    As for a premium version, this is as premium as it gets. I do this for fun, not money, fame, glory or anything else. Thanks for asking, though.

  15. Joe Landor says:

    Does this theme work in Wordpress 2.6.2 ?

  16. inanis says:

    It should work in 2.6.2 just fine. As a matter of fact, it just might work in 2.5, although I wouldn’t recommend it.

  17. Liverpool Lad says:

    You’ve done a really beautiful job designing this. I’ve designed a few themes myself so I know how much work has gone into this one.

    The amount of images you use is mind boggling, but its still a small file size. I’ve not worked much with graphics on this scale - and think that the transparency you’ve used and the way it all fits together is really spot on.

    I’ve been looking for a style suitable for a memorial website - nothing commercial just a labour of love as it were. If I don’t actually use this theme - I’d certainly look at creating transparency in the graphics instead of using plain images.

    This design gives me a lot to think about.

    In my opinion, this theme blows away thousands of themes that are being offered for sale.

    Once again, thanks for releasing it - I’m sure you’ll see plenty of people using it - not least because it looks so different yet is still your basic easy to navigate WordPress body underneath the engine.

    I take it you used Photoshop to create the images. I’ve not quite ‘got’ the way that websites are designed in psd - I generally code the xhtml and css first and make them accommodate the images.

    Good luck.
