Your Inauguration Day Soundtrack: Mekka Don & Mick Boogie

On a day like today, which can only be described as historic, many people wish those who’ve “passed on” could be here to witness the day’s events. Here at The Source, we’d love to know what Hip-Hop’s dearly departed coastal kings Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur would have to say if they were alive to see Barack Obama become the 44th President of the United States.

Mekka Don and Mick Boogie couldn’t bring Pac back for the occasion, but they are making his presence felt on their new project, The All Eyes On Me EP. The collection samples Tupac’s music and discusses Obama’s presidency and all the eyes that are on him.

You can download the project here.

real talk…the only person from the past that would have wanted to see a black president is Martin Luther King…nobody else believed in it but him so if it wasnt for MLK, obama wouldnt be here right now

I THINK EVERY BLACK IN THE PAST WOULD HAVE OR WOULD HAVE WANTED TO SEE THIS DAY , MLK JUST HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF THEM, FROM MY PARENTS TO YOURS. I THINK THIS COULD OR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN BLACK HISTORY

That’s a good track. We need more artists like this. We need artists to state the truth for the reality of the situation.
