Brydon to host BBC1 quiz

Rob Brydon is to take over as host of BBC1 panel game Would I Lie To You? when it returns for a third series.

The comedian, currently hoping for a number one single with Islands in the Stream, his Comic Relief collaboration with Gavin & Stacey co-star Ruth Jones, replaces Angus Deayton on the Zeppotron show.

Team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack remain on board for the 8 x 30-minute series, which is being recorded at Pinewood Studios for broadcast later this year.

The quiz features two teams of celebrities trying to guess whether their fellow panelists' outlandish stories about themselves are true or false.

Zeppotron creative director Charlie Brooker has been confirmed as a guest for the latest run.

Past series have attracted more than 3 million viewers in post-watershed Friday and Saturday night slots.

The show was re-commissioned by BBC1 controller Jay Hunt and BBC executive producer Katie Taylor. Peter Holmes and Ruth Phillips will executive produce for Zeppotron and the series producer is Derek McLean.
