As VP Product Design at NetQoS, Russell Wilson provides the creative leadership and guiding principles to deliver best of class products that set the industry standard for software usability.
Wilson joined NetQoS as director of product design in May 2005 and has since led the user interface design of the company’s NetQoS Performance Center suite of products, with an emphasis on interaction design, usability, and the user experience. Working closely with sales, product management, and software engineering, he has implemented leading edge processes and tools that have enhanced the design of existing and upcoming NetQoS products. His design expertise and industry knowledge have helped NetQoS maintain its exceptional customer satisfaction ratings and ensure that ease of use remains a focal point of the company’s product development strategy.
With more than 18 years of experience, Wilson has been involved in the design and development of eight successful commercial products and more than 15 enterprise software applications for the Fortune 500. Prior to joining NetQoS, he served as the vice president of engineering for HyPerformix, a predictive IT management vendor, and president and chief executive officer of ALVE Technology, a call center management software company. Wilson began his career with IBM, where he held development manager and design lead positions.
Wilson is the Austin ambassador for the User Experience Network (UXnet), as well as the Austin representative for the Interaction Designers Association (IxDA). In addition, he is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Usability Professionals’ Association, as well as a requested reviewer and contributor to many design conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a Master of Science degree in software engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
