Audi R15 #2 heading towards the Sebring hairpinThe ninth hour of running at the Sebring International Raceway started with the De Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a in the pit with a problem. After some checks it went out of the pit and into the paddock area. The LMP2 Acura had some bodywork replaced in the pitlane. Acura #9 made a lengthy pit stop with power steering problems.

At 6.40 pm Sarrazin in the #08 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was still in the lead, the gap reduced to just over two seconds, with Capello pushing hard to close the gap. The Italian driver succeeded in closing the gap and overtook the Peugeot at the hairpin, but came into the pit at the end of the lap. Capello changed places with Kristensen.

With the #08 Peugeot and #2 Audi making pit stops it was Luhr in the #1 who took the overall lead, while Kristensen made it an Audi 1-2 not much later when passing Bourdais on the track. Luhr then went into the pit for his stop, he got out of the car and replaced by Mike Rockenfeller. Kristensen then took the overall lead.

As the sun started to set the drivers faced the sun on the long straights towards Turn 17 and the hairpin. Just then Bourdais comes into the pit for what is said to be a puncture. The #08 dropped to third overall with Kristensen taking the lead again.

The Fernandez Racing Acura was in the lead in LMP2, Risi Competizione #62 still firmly ahead in GT2.
