HOT 100: The women to watch in 2009 - 1 to 10

1. AMY MACDONALD

LAST YEAR (3)

AMY, 21, will finish off a brilliant year with two sold-out nights at Glasgow's iconic Barrowland ballroom this weekend.

During 2008, she has toured America and Europe following the huge success of her debut album This Is The Life, which sold two million copies worldwide. It has now become the 10th biggest selling album in the UK this year.

Recently engaged to Falkirk striker Steve Lovell, Bishopbriggs-born Amy is anything but a stereotypical WAG, having forged her own career based on her singing and writing talents.

SHE'S SIZZLING BECAUSE:
for 2009, the international stage beckons as things really kick off in Europe, where she is currently the third biggest selling international artist in Germany. Amy also continues her assault on the US where she'll be promoting the title track This Is The Life.  And there could also be wedding bells in the air. Amy showed off her engagement ring at this year's T in the Park and Steve told how he did a U-turn - literally - en route to sign for an English club to come back to Scotland and play for Falkirk, making him and Amy the ultimate Scots showbiz couple.
