Game|Life The Video, #7: Nintendo and CD-i
Oh dear! It's another episode of Game|Life The Video!
Today, Wired magazine's Chris Baker and I pull out the Philips CD-i and take a look at one of the biggest mistakes Nintendo ever made: Namely, allowing Philips to license its franchise characters and create games for their failed attempt at a CD-based game system in the early nineties.
The terrible games that resulted, from Hotel Mario to Zelda's Adventure, were probably what caused Miyamoto & Co. to run screaming from the CD-ROM format.
We finish up with a video review of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. If you've already read the text review, you know what I'm going to say. But now it comes with visual aids!
Errata: Some irate Europeans have pointed out that Philips is a Dutch company, not American. Whoops!
