Kal Penn leaves House for White House

(Warning: SPOILERS ahead for last night's House.)

The political undertones of the Harold & Kumar series were apparently no accident. Actor Kal Penn's character on the medical-detective series House said his goodbyes last night in memorable fashion--the happy-go-lucky diagnostician inexplicably committed suicide by gunshot--so that Penn himself could pursue a non-acting opportunity. According to an exclusive interview Penn gave to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, he's been asked to serve in the Obama administration as as the associate director of the office of public liaison. Penn didn't go into details about the nature of his new gig, but chances are, it won't involve advocating for a change in the marijuana laws. Sorry, John Cho.
