The “epidemic of shootouts” is being spread by the very authorities primarily tasked to prevent it, and the great majority of those who could fall prey to it don’t seem to fully fathom the danger. We should not tolerate “pistol-packing” policemen running wild on our streets to shoot another victim.
Thousands of bills (proposed laws) have been filed by our lawmakers. These bills, before they were filed, must have taken our lawmakers and their respective staff lots of study, research and preparation. And, I am sure, many of these bills would have been really beneficial to the country.
In the face of pervasive corruption, various sectors, including the government itself, have called for moral renewal. This response has the same impact as appealing to a person’s conscience to stop him from doing something that is almost habitual or customary to him.
