Cat Hill campus is our specialist centre for art and design, and is one of the most creative campuses within the University. Home to a wide range of programmes with well-established reputations, and our extensive range of facilities and innovative teaching continue to shape developments in the art and design world.

  • We have outstanding purpose-built studio and workshop space, and more Apple Mac equipment than any other UK university.
  • MoDA – the Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture is based here. It has the finest collections of interior design artefacts of its kind in the UK.
  • Media Lab including: The best digital video equipment in higher education - according to Apple plc (who installed it). High spec Macs and PCs; top level software including Final Cut Pro, Director and Flash software).
  • The Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts has an impressive collection of digital equipment, and is Europe’s leading innovator in the application of computing to media and the arts.
  • The learning resources at Cat Hill are second to none, and include world class collections and archives.
  • Well-equipped studios, interface workshop, sound diffusion and computing resources support our sonic arts students.

Life on campus

Cat Hill students join their Trent Park colleagues for nights out in the Trent Park Students’ Union.

Students are invited to weekly film screenings on-campus. At least 60 different films are screened each term representing mainstream and experimental practice.

Fashion students are encouraged to get involved in London Fashion week, as helpers or runners. Art and design finalists take an active part in the organisation of their degree show exhibition, held every summer London's famous Brick Lane. Film students get free membership of the British Film Institute.

Students on the Interior Architecture course go on a field trip (usually abroad) every year to examine architecture.

Local area

There is a real buzz at the Cat Hill campus as students pin together their latest designs in the fashion studios, print textiles, paint, sculpt, or illustrate architectural designs. There are a number of cafés on site which serve refreshments throughout the day. Students can also use facilities at the Trent Park campus, which is close by.

Southgate High street, with its shops, pubs, eateries, sports facilities – and even medieval stocks on the local green – is a short distance away. Enfield Town, with its historic market, busy shopping centre and other amenities is a short bus ride away.

Transport

The nearest tube to Cat Hill is Cockfosters on the Piccadilly line, which will get you into central London in 40 minutes. The capital is an international centre for the arts, and there are a wealth of museums and galleries to help you find inspiration.
