French warship captures pirates

There must be firm and resolute action against Somali pirates, their bases, on land should be occupied and hostages released.  Shipping owners should stop paying ransom money. The US and French governments are showing the right way to deal with this menace.

BBC NEWS: “A French warship has captured 11 pirates off the coast of Kenya, amid calls for the international community to deal with the problem of piracy.

The pirates were captured by a warship from an EU piracy patrol, French officials said, hours after a failed attack on a US ship…”

Met investigates new claims of policeman hitting G20 woman - Telegraph

more about "untitled", posted with vodpod

There seems to be a new and vicious, sinister sport gripping the ultra left and nihilist protesters, following the Tomlinson incident at a G20 protest.  We have nasty little people, bullies,  who engage in insulting behaviour and nasty abuse towards police officers with an aim to egg on an officer into some violent response. Thus the latest video shown on TV news programmes shows a police officer striking a women when being insulted and provoked by the same person and those in the crowd doing the same thing, in fact it is obvious she wasn’t the only one provoking police officers.

Now, it was clearly wrong for a police officer to behave in the way he did but we should not be surprised because there are some nasty bullies amongst protesters who enjoy this sport. Frankly, to be a police officer, doing his or her duty for public safety during protest meetings; to endure gross insults and provocation takes the patience of a saint and no police officer can ever be a saint.

The police need public support and clearly training and the style of tactics needs to be improved.  But in the end what can you do with a significant nasty minority of protesters determined to create incidents for mobile phone cameras etc of police officers losing their cool then following a response start whinging about police behaviour?

Most people would feel that some protesters deserve a slap! But this really would be a bad idea and; police officers have got to try to keep cool and deal with these nutters in a more appropriate way; they may not deserve to have human rights but the alternative would be a slippery slope to chaos.

Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot

more about “Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot“, posted with vodpod
Carl Sagan Ph D., (1934 – 1996) US astronomer, astrochemist, astrobiology, astrophysicist, a founder of SETI : made a magnificent, remarkable series on the Cosmos in the 1980s; at the time I was riveted by his style of  teaching us  in his TV series about the Cosmos and the how important we are on our rather insignificant  little blue planet.  I looked forward to each episode as `i rarely did any other programme.  I recently found his TV series on You Tube and so I thought I would post one of his best contributions: Pale Blue Dot.

Protesters posed ’serious threat’

We need to know that these environmental fascists are far from being ordinary protesters, they are overgrown bullies; they simply wish to disrupt power supplies and harm production of electricity.  I am very pleased that the Nottinghamshire police acted as they did. We need coal fired power stations there is no alternative and we certainly don’t want to be converting to oil fired power stations. Coal is a valuable resource that this country has an abundance of  and so it is right we should exploit coal to the full.

Damian McBride’s Stupidity.

What overcomes Labour prime ministers and ministers to hire people such as Damian McBride give them a fat salary, a civil service post and then allow them to sabotage the Labour party?  Aren’t there enough committed activists out there who could be selected for such posts and why does such a post have to be a civil service post.

I am not impressed by Downing Street’s response neither am I impressed by the role Derek Draper played in these events.  There have been enough incidents in the past concerning idiotic emails; how can anyone with a modicum of common sense decide to write stupid emails in order to smear other political leaders.

Gordon Brown needs to sort himself out and quickly because that 4th term Labour activists dream of is becoming just a dream.  The Brown administration is showing it is increasingly out of touch. For someone who worked in the background to seize the leadership of the Labour party and prime ministership, he is showing and not for the first time: an incredible failing in judgement and leadership.

Scramble to find the Easter bomb factory - Times Online

Clearly, the regime for student visa applications needs tightning up, why on earth 9,444 student applications are not thoroughly investigated leaves a lot to be desired;

THE TIMES; “…Ten of the 12 men arrested on Wednesday were Pakistani nationals who entered Britain on student visas.

All were from the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, the heartland of al-Qaeda and mujahidin activity. They appear to have exploited a visa regime described by a minister last week as “the major loophole in Britain’s border controls”.

Security sources are alarmed that terrorists may have exploited weaknesses in the vetting of student visa applicants to plant sleeper cells here…”

US navy bears down on pirate boat

Whilst it’s good to see a rather belated attempt  by the US Navy in rescuing  a US crewed vessel; the problem needs further action and that the pirates need tackling at source and no company should make any ransom payments to them.

Above all an effective  central government is required in Somalia. It is noticeable that the African big thieves and gangsters club, the African Union remains silent.
