Burris raises $845

Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) has been busy in his first months in the Senate, but he hasn't spent any time at all raising money.

Burris’ campaign spokesman announced today the senator raised only $845 in the first quarter, and still holds more than $111,000 in debts defending himself against allegations of perjury. Burris’ nonexistent fundraising will make it extremely difficult for him to compete in a primary against much-better-funded opposition.

If he runs for election, Burris will be facing off in a primary against state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (D), who raised more than $1.1 million in four weeks since forming an exploratory committee.

Meanwhile, Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) will be making a decision whether to run for the Senate by month’s end — and he raised nearly $700,000 over the last three months.

2010 can't come soon enough! It's time to vote all these idiots out of office, that still don't listen to the citizens in Illinois. Be on alert - that Durbin has presented his version of the - Illinois "Dream Act" - which will give teens of illegal aliens the right to go to college on taxpayers dime. Everyone needs to call to voice your personal view on this - . I'm just having a hard time paying for my own kids to go to college, let alone children of illegal aliens.

This might be a good time for the Republicans to run Jack Ryan or Alan Keyes against him.

Burris, your time is almost up. Not only are you an embarrasment to the Democratic Party, but an embarrasment to the state of Illinois, as well as the entire country in general. 2010 can't get here soon enough.

It's good to know that a crook like Burris will ultimately end up bankrupt... until the DNC and Barack Obama swoop in.

It seems there is not an honest person in this state working for or interested in running for government positions. Right now Democrats seem to have the upper hand because they take credit for closing down Detroit and pushing USA to saddle american taxpayers with 20-45 millions illegals on welfare and union payrolls. That will be hard to top by any other party. VOTE STRAIGHT DEMOCRATE AND DRIVE AMERICA STRAIGHT TO HELL.

No sweat Jesse and his son will take care of this. Burris will finish out the term and little Jesse will get the seat. Once the race card is played all the other players fold and wait for a New Deal.

Kirk is a Republican and therefore would be a bad choice for senator .

well if that's what he had to pay for a senate seat, he'll get to put one more accomplishment on his tombstone. it's a small price to pay at 111,000 bucks. his momma will be proud of him, his kids and grandkids might be ashamed of him.

He's go back to Illinois a broken man and wishing he never accepted the senate seat offer from Blago. Burris blew any chances he had because he lied AND he had his friends like Bobby Rush interject the race card. Burris is dead in the water and $845 isn't going to pay his lawyers, he's have to add a couple of 00's after the 5.

Well Mr.(EGO) Burris can add his 1yr stint as a Temp US Senator to his resume on his headstone that he pre-paid for. Wonder where ALL his Black power buddies like Bobby Rush and his panther crew disappeared to, no monies coming from those folks that interjected the race card and made Roland Burris a dead duck regarding any running for the seat Full-term, so much for fair-weather friends. Can't wait to see this guy go back home to Chicago, he's been a embassarrment since day 1 and never should have accepted the seat from Blago anyone. Does he regret accepting the senate seat? Hell yes because he owes a ton of money to his lawyers and no contributions are coming in. No one wants him to run for the seat in 2010, he's walk away a broke EX-US Senator. lol lol lol

Senator Burris is courageous & a gentleman. Perseverance is the key to his success. I commend him for not being intimidated by Scarry Harry, Dick the Pr*ck Durbin & the POTUS. The majority on the hill are so full of themselves. Bk in the day, Dick wznt such a *****, the corrupt Dubyah years did him in. I hope the peeps choose differently in 2012 & Scarry Harry & Dick the Pr*ck are voted out 4EvEr along w/too many to name here. Americas BEST Senators are Feingold, Specter, Reed, Webb, Whitehouse, Boxer & Burris. They are free thinkers. Nobody owns em! All the best to BEST to Senator Burris. Good night.

In a state as blue as Illinois, Democrats don't need to raise money--instead they can focus on the people. Kirk can raise all the money he wants but he's not viewed by us as a man of the people. Burris would beat kirk in a landslide.

After all, he had to buy that seat from Blago, so he doesn't have any money right now. That $845 won't even get Blago to the phone.
