Morton's Steakhouse in Chicago

Posted on November 30, 2008 03:59 PM by Joel Comm

I usually visit my extended family in the Chicago suburbs over the Thanksgiving holiday.

This past weekend, we left the kids with their aunt and uncle, and spent a couple nights downtown.

Mary had never been to a Morton's steakhouse before, so it was a great opportunity to share a fine dining experience with her.

Many have never been to Morton's, so I shot a video of our server, Matt, presenting the menu.

Watch out for the live lobster!

Bon apetit

Joel - I believe that Morton's Chicago location was its first. I worked for several years (1979-1982) upstairs in that same building, while commuting weekly from New York; Morton's steak house was in the basement. Arnie also had a ground floor restaurant and an enclosed snack bar outside. I believe the address was 1030 or 1050 North State Street. My recollection is that Arnie sold the business long ago, and the new owners have taken it to numerous other locations. Bill

You have to try the Egyptian food
You eat once and you will not eat for a week :)

Matt definitely has his presentation down, and he presented well.
Yes, a sixty hour marinate will get the juices flowing.
What did you and Mary end up enjoying?

My parents took me to Morton's after my pass and review at Great Lakes (Navy Bootcamp). What an experience. I hope you topped off that steak with their famous chocolate souflee. Thanks for bringing back an incredible memory.
