Vintage Indie

Me_215We've written about Gabreial Wyatt’s blog Vintage Indie before, but I am just loving the redesign.  There's loads of great new photos of treasures like this copper canister set, or organizing with a Glassbake piece that I just know my grandmother had.

Speaking of family, Gabreial is blogging more personal posts on Fridays, including her most recent about getting her mom started blogging a TypePad blog!

Not sure you're ready to go full vintage? There's a special Monday section on mixing the modern with the past.

Visit Vintage Indie.

blomma finds

Blommafindsfortypepad
The biggest issue facing shopping on the web is that it’s… big! World Wide Web big, in fact. So wouldn’t it be great if you had someone to scour the net and bring you new, fun, funky finds every day? Erika Schulze does just that in the pages of blomma finds, her blog that “brings you the best of the web every day of the week.” Erika presents products for home, kids, clothes, outdoor, and more from baby, to kitchenware, to fashion. Independent designers show their wares, too. This fun site makes online browsing and shopping a breeze; all of the styles have a modern/retro “cool” twist to them and will add flair to your home, life, and closet; ordering information is embedded in every product description.

Vintage Indie

Vi
Lovers of all things vintage, quirky, retro, and otherwise what-have-you will love Vintage Indie, Gabreial Wyatt’s blog that celebrates “modern life with a vintage perspective.” As Gabreial says, “ it is our goal to give life to older things once disregarded and blend them with the world we live in today…all the while supporting the independent business owner.” The site is a treasure trove of do-it-yourself projects, books, products, and more, “that render a feeling of nostalgia in today’s fast-paced society.” That it does, and once you look at the styles, the jewelry, vintage paper goods, and the accessories, we think you’ll agree. These designs hearken back to a simpler, more relaxed time when pride in craftsmanship was at its height and a visit to the site’s store will help you reintroduce them to your life. Be sure to check out the aptly-named Daily Swank for special pieces that have been spotlighted for beauty, functionality, and vintage versatility.

Who are Tilly, Belinda, and Stella? They’re some of the people (?) you’ll meet in Art and Ghosts. “Louise” is an artist and her unique vision results in a blog filled with her fanciful creations. Inspired by children and the world around them, Louise’s inspiration takes wing in her designs, and are reflected in posts such as The Strangest Little Girls in the World, The Orchard Twins, and Marionettes. Whimsical, imaginative, and delightful, Louise’s designs will add a touch of serendipity to your home and are available for sale through her store. Intrigued by her style? Check out her recommended books, blogs, and recordings too.

Optimist

Picture_2
Optimist is a blog about modern designs, cool stuff, beautiful items and handy gadgets for babies and young kids authored by a Dutch mom who lives in Germany. Little ones need a lot of items to keep them happy and healthy, and this blog has virtually everything parents (and grandma) might need to organize and run their now hectic lives. Items and Categories covered include bath, kitchen, and clothing, with more – lots more – to be found. The designs are wonderfully creative and some have a European flavor, and will delight children and parents alike. The author – herself a new mom with a 3 year-old as well – knows what to look for in terms of design, functionality, and affordability, and posts her opinions with a keen insight that readers will appreciate.
