Team Info
The Browns were formed in 1946 and played in Cleveland until 1995, when owner Art Modell announced he was moving his team to Baltimore to become the Ravens. However, the city of Cleveland and the NFL struck a deal to return the Browns to the playing field in 1999 and they did so as an expansion team under new owner Al Lerner. Under head coach Butch Davis the Browns reached the playoffs in 2002 for the first time in their new incarnation, but successive losing seasons forced Lerner to pull the plug on the Davis regime and install Romeo Crennel, architect of the New England Patriots defense, as the new head coach. In 2007 Cleveland had their best season in years, posting a 10-6 record but narrowly missing out on the playoffs.
