Hi everyone,

I recently helped a friend to clean his PC from virus, malware, several antivirus solutions at once, video driver missing… lots of garbage. The PC was a mess. So besides cleaning it up, I had the chance of installing Linux and iluminate him :P (Linux Mint 6 BTW)

So, I thought: Ok, another easy going Linux installation and that’s it. Enter Dell Optiplex 320.

A hanged blank screen everytime. No matter what I did. Tried safe graphics mode, Compatibility mode(acpi off and stuff) with no luck!

Hi everyone,

In my personal computer I’ve separated my home partition from my system partition, to make system updates, backups and recovery from (playing with critical OS stuff) crashes a lot easier. I did all this from scratch - that is - by installing Ubuntu(well Mint) and creating the home partition from the installer itself.

I’ve found a great article on the latest Full Circle Magazine issue on how to do this on an existing system, which is great for all those who don’t want/need to reinstall from scratch and lose their customizations(or whatever). Also, the magazine article contains a few errors thay may confuse some people. Hope this helps to achieve your goal.

So, I’ll explain here how to do this. I will summarize the process assuming you know a little bit of Linux and don’t want to read all the warnings/ explanations of it.
