Moochie Norris, Vin Baker & Second-Round Draft Pick Traded to Houston
Knicks Acquire Maurice Taylor

NEW YORK, February 24, 2005 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that forward Maurice Taylor has been acquired from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Moochie Norris, forward Vin Baker and New York’s 2006 second-round draft pick.

Taylor, 6-9, 255-pounds, averaged 7.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 23.8 minutes in 38 games – including 16 starts – for the Rockets this season. The six-year NBA veteran held career averages of 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds entering the 2004-05 season.

Norris, 6-1, 185-pounds, averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 assists in 32 bench appearances this season for the Knicks. Originally acquired from Houston on Dec. 30, 2003, the seven-year NBA veteran held career averages of 5.7 points and 3.2 assists in 362 games entering the 2004-05 season.

Baker, 6-11, 240-points, averaged 1.4 points and 1.5 rebounds in 24 bench appearances this season for the Knicks. Originally signed as a free agent on Mar. 12, 2004 and re-signed on Aug. 18, 2004, the 11-year NBA veteran held career averages of 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds in 756 games entering the 2004-05 season.
