Burnley striker Robbie Blake has won the March Powerade Player of the Month Award in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Blake was instrumental in Burnley's fine form throughout March, helping his side record four wins from their five league games. The frontman chipped in with two vital goals during the month, the first setting his side on their way to a comprehensive home win over Nottingham Forest and the second sealing all three points at Plymouth Argyle to help the Clarets cement their Play-Off place in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Also short-listed for the March award were Sammy Clingan of Norwich City, David Cotterill of Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Michael Kightly.

Chris Kamara, Chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month Awards panel, said: "Robbie Blake gets better and better with age. Outside of the Premier League, even though he's 33, he's one of the best around. He's got great skills and his quality has shone through, especially in recent weeks."

Swindon Town striker Simon Cox won the League 1 award after enjoying a phenomenal month, netting eight goals in as many league games.

His scoring run began with a goal in his side's narrow defeat to Colchester United and was followed by back-to-back braces to secure comprehensive home wins over both Southend United and Hereford United. Cox's outstanding goal-scoring form culminated in him hitting a hat-trick to seal all three points for the Robins at Northampton Town and help them move away from the relegation places in Coca-Cola League 1.

Also short-listed for the March award were Jermaine Beckford of Leeds United, Chris Whelpdale of Peterborough United and Scunthorpe United's Gary Hooper.

Chris Kamara, Chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month Awards panel, said: "Simon Cox is simply a goal machine. All the big clubs have had a look at him and you can see why. He's beginning to reach his full potential and his goals have helped Swindon stay clear of the League 1 relegation zone."

Rotherham United striker Reuben Reid was also celebrating after he was named the Powerade Player of the Month for League 2.

Reid was in terrific goal-scoring form throughout March, netting eight goals in eight league games for Rotherham United. He began the month by scoring a hat-trick in his side's excellent away win at Chester City and was also on the scoresheet to help them secure victory over high-flying Rochdale. The frontman's goals continued with a brace against Chesterfield and strikes against both Bury and Luton Town to help the Millers take 15 points from the month and move them towards mid-table in Coca-Cola League 2.

Also short-listed for the March award were John O'Flynn of Barnet, Steve Fletcher of Bournemouth and Chesterfield's Jack Lester.

Chris Kamara, Chairman of the Powerade Player of the Month Awards panel, said: "Reuben Reid has had a great month and contributed with some fine goals. It's not been an easy season for Rotherham, playing at a different ground, but he's been producing the goods week in week out and scoring eight goals in the month is a fantastic achievement."
