Glock to suffer grid penalty
Timo Glock will take a five-place penalty after qualifying, having suffered a gearbox failure during the third and final free practice session in Shanghai.
The German managed just six laps on Saturday morning before falling foul of an upshift problem on the start-finish straight and having to crawl back to the Toyota garage, where his mechanics immediately began swarming over the TF109 in an effort to effect the necessary change before qualifying.
Like Rubens Barrichello in Malaysia, Glock will drop five places from wherever he ends up at the end of the knock-out session in China, but is likely to feature in the final phase of the session, given Toyota's front-running performance so far this season. The German's team-mate, Jarno Trulli, ended Saturday morning's session second fastest to Toyota-powered Nico Rosberg.
