Overview
DeAndre Levy is a linebacker
who was selected by the Detroit Lions with the 76th overall pick in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Levy played four seasons at the University of Wisconsin before entering the draft. Levy is 6-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 228 pounds.
Prep Career
Levy was a two-time all-conference selection at Vincent High School in Milwaukee. He also earned all-state honors as a senior in 2004, when he recorded 84 total tackles (21 for loss) and five sacks. Scout.com ranked Levy as the No. 78 linebacker recruit in the class of 2005 and the No. 7 recruit in Wisconsin. He committed to Wisconsin in December of 2004, choosing the Badgers over Indiana and Pitt.
Freshman Year
Levy played in a reserve role as a true freshman, recording 18 total tackles in 11 games.
Sophomore Year
Levy moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore, and ranked fourth on the team with 50 total tackles. His 6.0 sacks led Wisconsin and he ranked third on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss. He capped off his first year as a starter with three tackles and an interception in the Capital One Bowl win over Arkansas.
Junior Year
As a junior, Levy finished second on the team with 70 total tackles and had 10.0 tackles for loss. He earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Indiana, when he had eight total tackles to go along with a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Senior Year
As a senior, Levy recorded a career-high 73 total tackles, good for second on the team. His 9.5 tackles for loss led Wisconsin and he tied for the team lead with 5.0 sacks, earning him honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.
