Update :: Tis the season

Little Big Planet is for me the at-time-of-writing highlight of the pre-Christmas glut. This is the time when us gamers gorge ourselves on the tasty gaming treats until we are fat and happy. Before too long we\'ll suffer the belly-ache of post-Christmas drought, but in the meantime we may be happy, we may dance, we may laugh, we may cavort in glee.

The Raskulls Roster

Comments from Phil - May 2nd @ 12:57pm

As part of the lead-up to the release of Raskulls on XBLA, each playable character (and a few misfits) has been showcased in a unique profile, complete with interview questions and everything. Many are funny, some are disturbing, and most don't make sense. Which is awesome. Below you can check out the King, who is the self-centred protagonist of Raskulls, and Dragon, who seemingly has eyes for only one "man". Head over to the Halfbrick website for the full list!

Lock and load! More COD World at War Maps on their way!

Comments from Cav - May 1st @ 8:16pm

Treyarch have announced a second Map Pack of their successful Call of Duty World at War shooter, featuring three new multiplayer maps and .... the one you have all been waiting for ..... another Zombie map!

The princess is in another castle. Stuffing her face.

Comments from Jae - April 27th @ 2:56am

I admit I'm not as health conscious as I used to be and I've let myself go a little. The toned abs and the well defined biceps are gone. Don't worry I've given myself a strict goal of getting back there before I get married in September. Did I just hear you use the pun "FAT CHANCE"? Well here's a fat princess instead.

Okay, who is up for some THQ weekend demo goodness?

Comments from Cav - April 26th @ 7:34pm

THQ have two demos to download this weekend on 360 or PS3 .... of course just before you go to bed as download rates are better then.

Phil is a bodacious dude, Halfbrick is also tubular

Comments from Phil - April 23rd @ 4:31pm

Slack isn't in my vocabulary.

Yes, Halfbrick is going guns blazing and it's great to see all kinds of new games on the way, with Raskulls being the leader of awesomeness. Yug has stuff to say about our other projects and the studio itself, because he recently too part in a studio tour and he will soon grace everyone with his drunken musings.

In the meantime, now is your chance to become active in the Halfbrick community and show your support for a local developer. Here at Australian Gamer we're HUGE on the local industry, and Halfbrick has several places you can check out to get all kinds of information and media. Hit the jump for all the goods!

Whats Wrong With Loving A Honkey With A Bus Pass

Comments from Brett - April 20th @ 11:21pm

It's been a slow April here at The Brett Testing Labs (TM Pending) with no free graphics cards or USB Pen Drives arriving in my mailbox or under my door mat. With so few endorsements going on, companies would be wise to consider that a free product sent to the BTL guarantees a good review, at least 14 page views and some quality photography, an offer that my friends at Belkin have found too good to resist.

Phil is a slack Raskull

Comments from Yug - April 20th @ 8:51pm

I visited local developer Halfbrick the other day, since I wanted to see what stuff they had been doing lately for the XNA community. For those that aren't aware, Phil from AustralianGamer.com recently started working at Halfbrick as their PR/Marketing co-ordinator, and has been going guns blazing, as I've received many professional press releases so far.

Twitter giveaways

Comments from Yug - April 17th @ 4:52pm

So I have a Twitter account - http://www.twitter.com/YugSTAR, and I'm ever so slightly addicted to it now. In order to make it worthwhile to those following however, I've managed to continually score some XBL Arcade game codes to giveaway to the first people to reply to my specific Twitter questions.

Wait, did I just read positive media on computer games?

Comments from Starks - April 17th @ 11:24am

I believe I did. Read more and see. I think I'm left speechless. Not only is it positive, but it's written by a mother who writes for Womans Weekly! I'm half expecting to hear news of an R18+ rating after that.

Framework: design aikido

Comments from Yug - April 16th @ 8:12am

There's an event coming up in a few weeks, targeted towards the gaming industry in Australia called 'Framework'. The 2nd event, this one specifically focuses on 'design, pre-production, and story'.

World of Warcraft 3.1 and the Australian Gamer Guild

Comments from Matt - April 15th @ 4:53pm

Last night's server Maintenance brought with it the long awaited 3.1 patch. This is the biggest content update in a long time, and the first content update in Lich King at all.

Un-indestructible

Comments from Jae - April 11th @ 10:27am

I like Street Fighter IV. Some might say I'd make love to it every night if it wasn't for those thunder thighs in the way. I checked out a recent local Tournament in Perth held and organised by Game Traders in Carousel.

OIC, AIE VET FEE? ASAP!

Comments from Yug - April 8th @ 1:32pm

We like AIE. Yes, it is due in part to the fact that they advertise on the side of AustralianGamer, however we've always maintained a policy with our advertisers that editorially we will say whatever we want, regardless of any other arrangements. With that in mind, I did get a press release from them that I thought was highly appropriate for people in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne potentially looking to do a games course at AIE:

YUG 81

Comments from Yug - April 8th @ 10:48am

My birthday has come and gone, however I thought I would share one of the awesome, pretentious, slightly wankery, totally appropriate presents I got from my girlfriend Lauren ...

For all you soccer football fans, here is your chance to play 'the big one!'

Keepin' it Retro

Comments from Starks - April 7th @ 9:03am

Was poking around Kotaku and saw this. Not much to say except it's pretty cool and would make your lunch breaks at work pass in a flash. The device was made by Ben Heckendorn.
