News: Thornton has "followed orders" by scoring less this year, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Spin: Head coach Todd McLellan installed a creative system this season which calls for less attention on Jumbo Joe, but more offensive production from the Sharks' core of defensemen. His numbers suffered mildly as a result, as he finished the regular season with 86 points (25G, 61A), 10 less than he had last year. View Thornton's modified role as a player showing unselfishness and leadership. The center remains a top playmaker with the playoffs right around the corner. |
