$1.99 HD Rental

We’re behind a bit on this report, which we originally missed and were made aware of by site visitor Todd, but we thought it was important enough to point out. Apple seems to be offering a $1.99 HD Rental along with their group of $.99 rentals of the week. This weeks $1.99 HD Rental is Art School Confidential. So keep an eye out this up coming Tuesday for Apple’s next $1.99 offering should they have one.

Daily SD Rental Update 9-04-08

Below is the list of SD Rentals that have been added to iTunes as of 9-04-08.

The majority of today’s 11 New Releases seem to fall into the old Hollywood category. The one that caught my eye was, The Arrangement with Kirk Douglas and Faye Dunaway. Reviews for this movie are right down the middle… Not the best, but not the worst movie ever made. Either way, I think the craziness of the movie is interesting enough to watch. Check out the trailer or rent the movie and judge for yourself.

Juno Now Available To Rent….Almost - Updated!

It looks like Apple jumped the gun with Juno being rentable and has now removed their claim from the banner in the iTunes Store.

According to the iTunes Store Juno is now available as a rental, all though as of this posting when you click on the banner it still shows up as a purchase only. Apple TV still shows purchase only as well. I will keep you posted.

Apple TV Movie Rental Video Formats - Does This Hold True For Purchased Movie Also?

According to Apple’s support page on Rental Video Formats the resolution for Standard Definition movies is 720 x up to 480 pixels. If you rented the same movie directly from the iTunes Store the resolution would be 640 x up to 480 pixels. Now, I have yet to purchase a movie through Apple TV. Really there hasn’t been a title worth if for me. All though I am looking forward to next week when Indiana Jones is released on DVD, but I digress. My question is, does the 720 x up to 480 pixel resolution hold true for purchase titles also? Has anyone Purchased a movie through the Apple TV and noticed an improvement in quality over a purchase through the iTunes Store. My guess is this is why there wasn’t some huge dump of all the titles into the Apple TV from the iTunes Store, because they needed to be re-digitized for the higher resolution. Opinions? Thoughts? I’m curious. If this is true, and the quality is improved, then this may persuade me to purchase a title for two.

The Week Ahead In New Rental Titles

Love in the time of Cholera (3-18-08)
The Mist (3-25-08)
