Switzerland has confirmed its first case of swine flu in a 19-year-old student who recently returned from Mexico.
The state hospital in Baden says in a statement released Thursday that the National Influenza Center in Geneva confirmed the disease shortly after the student was mistakenly released from hospital on Wednesday.
The hospital says the student had been in isolation since Monday but was released after officials initially misinterpreted his test results.
It says the student has been readmitted to the hospital, and those he came into contact with have been asked to stay home.
Switzerland has another 25 "suspicious cases."
Within Europe cases have also been confirmed in Austria, Germany, Spain and Britain.
