◆ Japan's 1st suspected case of new influenza virus detected
TOKYO, May 1 KYODO
     The first suspected case in Japan of the rapidly spreading new strain of influenza A virus has been detected, Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Yoichi Masuzoe said Friday.
     The patient is a 17-year-old male high school student in Yokohama, who stayed in British Columbia, Canada, on a school excursion from April 10 to 25, according to his school. Masuzoe added it may take one or two more days to find out whether he is really infected with the new strain of the influenza subtype H1N1.
