Khachmaz – APA. Azerbaijan takes special measures on its northern borders for prevention of possible transmission of A/H1N1 (“swine flu”) virus to the country.
All checkpoints on Azerbaijan-Russia borders passed to the medium security and disinfector-barriers for both cars and pedestrians were installed at the Samur, Shirvanovka and Khan Oba checkpoints in Gusar and Khachmaz regions, Samur Customs Office told APA. The veterinary services at the border checkpoints intensified their activities. Hog farms in the northern regions passed to the closed farming regime.
Deputy Chief of Khachmaz veterinary office Agali Agabalayev told APA there are 700 hogs in four farms of the region. The veterinary service takes special measures to protect the farms from possible flu virus infection. “We are holding educational work among the farm workers, installing the disinfector-barriers at the farm entrances and holding disinfection work at the farms every day”.
Spokesman for State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture Yolchu Khanveli told APA his organization banned import of meat and meat products from Krasnodar and North Ossetian regions of Russia because of African plague among the hog farms of those regions.
