A principal will think twice the next time he makes a promise to his students.
Tony Mennett said if his students at Russell Elementary in West Carrollton reached their "Pasta for Pennies" fundraising goal, he would swim with sharks.
The students surpassed that goal, so Mennet got in a tank with sharks today at the Newport Aquarium while the students looked on.
"Newport Aquarium was kind enough to fulfill a challenge that I made. I suggested I would swim with sharks. I thought I would be in a dunk tank with some toys from a discount store," Mennett said.
Thanks in part to his challenge, the program raised $7,000 for fighting Leukemia and Lymphoma.
