World record holder Apa Sherpa to create new foundation


SALT LAKE CITY, UT - April 16th, 2009 - The holder of the world record for summiting Mount Everest the most times, Apa Sherpa has announced the creation of a new foundation that will be dedicated to improving education as well as aid economic develop in his home country of Nepal and amoung his own people, the Sherpas.


The foundation, which will bear his name, The Apa Sherpa Foundation, will focus primarily on increasing educational infrastructure in his homeland, the Khumbu region of Nepal. Secondly, the foundation will be involved in a number of projects designed to bring economic opportunities to the the people of the region.
