Since the Islanders were awarded the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Draft Lottery on April 14th, the organization has seen a significant increase of interest in tickets for the 2009-10 season.

The Islanders ticket sales department has seen a 300-percent increase in phone calls and e-mail inquiries over last year at this time, and the team is also currently on pace to renew nearly 90-percent of their season tickets for next season.

“There is a lot of excitement surrounding this year’s NHL Entry Draft for the Islanders organization and its fans,” said Islanders President Chris Dey. “That enthusiasm is being felt through the increase interest in our various ticket packages.”

Over the previous three years (2006-2008), the team has seen renewals grow from 67-percent to 80-percent and at the same time has enjoyed a steady increase to its season ticket base.

The Islanders finished the 2008-09 season sixth in the NHL in new full season tickets sold with a 45-percent year-over-year increase and fourth in Group Ticket Sales. Currently the team is 40-percent ahead of last year’s season tickets sales pace.

In response to the demand, the Islanders are now taking partial plan and group ticket deposits for the 2009-10 season. The deposits provide fans with priority order seat selection when next season’s schedule is released and the plans are set.

The Islanders will also hold an open house at the Nassau Coliseum as part of the team’s Draft Party on Friday night, June 26th. Fans can tour the seating areas of the Coliseum to find seats best suited for their ticket purchases.
