More than six months after Gwen Stefani released her solo debut, Love, Angel, Music, Baby, the album scored its highest chart position, Number Five, this week. It hit the Top Ten seven weeks ago and has stayed there, according to Nielsen SoundScan, selling between 60,000 and 80,000 a week.

The resurgence is due to her latest single, "Hollaback Girl," which held Number One on the singles chart for several weeks running and is a staple of MTV's TRL. The track, a Stefani cut with Pharrell Williams, was a last-minute inclusion.

"I did the whole record, but I knew I didn't have my attitude song -- my 'this is my history, fuck you because you can't erase it' song," says Stefani. "I knew I wanted a song like that." The singer is planning to release a follow-up solo album before Christmas, including tracks left over from the L.A.M.B. sessions with producers Linda Perry, Williams, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam and Dallas Austin, plus new tracks she'll cut in the next few months. "I have endless ideas," says Stefani.

In the meantime, Gwen has recorded vocals for husband Gavin Rossdale's comeback, with post-Bush album Institute. The harder, self-titled debut, produced by former Helmet frontman Page Hamilton, is planned for early fall.
