Money that would have been used to buy welcome gifts for visiting delegates to the UN Climate Conference has now been ear-marked for educational climate scholarships
In the run up to the United Nations Climate Conference being held in Copenhagen later this year, the government has decided to invest the money traditionally spent on welcome gifts for delegates’ conference packs, on climate scholarships instead.
Up to 15,000 delegates and foreign media are expected to attend the conference in December and it is usually customary for them to receive small gifts from the host country in association with the conference.
