About this project

Since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of making my own video game. Now, armed with current technology I, with a couple of friends who have graciously donated their time and efforts, am hoping to do just that. For over a year we've been working on what some might call a 'retro game' inspired by the sights and sounds of the original Nintendo, and Super Nintendo video game consoles.

Each person on our team of three takes great interest and participation in the independently driven creative community. We've each had experience in an array of creative endeavors; whether it be creating music, painting, illustrating, graphic design, or programming games.

Our video game, (titled “High Strangeness”) is about a boy living in current day middle America, who awakes in the middle of the night to find that his home has been intruded upon by shadowy villains. He soon finds himself on a quest to discover the secrets of a mysterious item, after unwittingly being dragged into a foreign world filled with the evil and mysterious Shadow Men. Hesitant at first, our hero eventually realizes his role in a cosmic battle for peace throughout all universes.

High Strangeness is set for tentative release in 2010, for PC and XBOX Live Community Games.

The music for High Strangeness is being composed by Rich Vreeland aka Disasterpeace, while the illustrations and artwork are being created by Bay Area artist, Sam Bennett.

More than anything this project is an experiment driven by DIY ideals. None of us have any sort of sponsorship, and simply want to make something incredible with our existing resources.

This is where you come in:

Funding for this project would go towards production of the game's soundtrack (as the music and art are of high priority), development tools in order to make the game available on multiple platforms, and for the compensation of the generous contributors whom have made the dream of an individual take form.

For an idea of what the music and visuals are like, please take a couple of minutes to check out our teaser trailer, above.

A big 'thanks' for those checking this project out. And a bigger 'thanks' to those who contribute! It means a lot!
