I didn't have the slightest idea what Rocket Riot was prior to this afternoon. I imagine many of you are in the same boat, and probably haven't even heard the name before. For starters, it's an Xbox LIVE Arcade title similar to what Worms would be like if it was real-time, and if jetpacks and rockets were the only mode of transportation and weapon type, respectfully. You all owe it to yourselves to try out the demo, because the game oozes style, hilariously cool music, and gameplay which you need to experience rather than hear about. Rocket Riot centers around everyone getting their legs stolen and ultimately screwing jetpacks onto their asses for crying out loud. All of this for $10? Sold! Besides playing it for this week's Friday Night Fights, we'll be doing stuff like Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, Red Faction, and much more. Peek after the break for the full line-up.

The new Burnout Paradise downloadable content "Big Surf Island" is out, and it's kind of good. For those of you who are on an Xbox 360, and want the Achievement for doing all ten of the Freeburn Challenges, I will be hosting the game for a little while starting at around 8:30 EDT. Your friendly neighborhood FNFers have also got plenty of Uncharted 2 beta, Halo 3, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and Shadowrun action to go around for the rest of us. There's actually more stuff being played than that, but today's warm weather has melted my Flinstones push-up and I must go tend to it.

The multiplayer beta for Red Faction: Guerrilla was rough around the edges, but enjoyable nonetheless. The recent multiplayer demo? A huge improvement overall, but I still had some doubts about the full game's longevity in a sea of online, community-driven games. Now that I have played the retail version's multiplayer, I must say I was completely taken by surprise. The core concept was always there, sure, but now that Guerrilla has been polished and the XP/unlockables/lobby system has become fully realized, everything has come together in a huge way. This is going to sound like pure hype, but seriously, you need to give Red Faction a chance if you have ever enjoyed anything in the first- or third-person shooter genre. It's got the diversity in gameplay you'd want, enough player-controlled options to keep things interesting, and best of all, experience points can be earned in private matches. That's right, you aren't forced to play with randoms online. Great Friday Night Fights game or greatest?

Apologies in advance if this post seems thrown together and isn't super informative, because that's exactly what it is. I was gone on vacation until very recently, the forums went down, which halted our planning for Friday Night Fights, and now a metric ton of E3 news has made for one incredibly hectic Friday. So, rather than being vaguely organized like normal, we're going to have to do things a little differently tonight. While the PlayStation 3 crew rocked it out and has everything ready, us Xbox 360 players are kind of clueless and don't know what's up. If you fall into the second category, help us by leaving a comment in this post if you would like to take up the role of hosting a game. Some of us will be playing the Red Faction: Guerrilla multiplayer demo and Shadowrun, so lets make sure tonight isn't a total loss.

Friday Night Fights is a weekly gathering for Dtoiders to just play games with one another. School's out for college goers! That means it's time to kick back, relax, forget everything you've learned this past semester and play some videogames! The Red Faction: Guerrilla demo was released yesterday and I highly recommend you all give that a try. Its chaotic fun and hitting people with the hammer makes you feel like you're a pimp b*tch smacking a ho. If Red Faction isn't your cup of tea though, we have plenty of other games you can be playing with other Dtoiders today. Hit the break to find out what's going on.

Congratulations to Dtoid_Nosmo for participating in this thing and also to Adam J Who and Christina Winterburn, the final winners of our WTF Is This Sh*t contest. We're pausing the WTF contest because, quite frankly, we're running out of shelf space! CEO cat requires adequate perching room to oversee Destructoid's editorial operations. Don't be mislead -- he sleeps with one eye open. In other news, do you see that sexy header pic? It's real and its coming -- Destructoid is bringing back our Friday Night Fights tournament (remember the last one?) later this Summer and have all kinds of big prizes in store for you. In addition to random participation prizes for online web games (thanks Nitrome!) we'll also be hosting some online ladder matches, pitting Dtoiders head-to-dead in deathmatch battles. We'll also have a full online stats system so everyone can marvel at your towering e-peen when you win. It should be good times and we're working so that at most of the contest will be open to our Dtoiders overseas, underwater, etc. Question is, what are your favorite head-to-head *PC* games? We're thinking along the lines of CounterStrike, Starcraft, Left 4 Dead, Warcraft III, Team Fortress 2, Quake, Call of Duty, FIFA, and Pong. Well, maybe not Pong. Street Fighter IV is due for the PC on July 7th, so we might do that as well. Please let us know which games you'd like to see appear in out tournament by dropping us a comment below!

Unable to make it to the Miami GameNarp tonight? Sure, you won't get to meet Carlos Ferro (Dom), or participate in the Gears of War 2 tournament that's going down, but it's not all bad. For those of us stuck at home, it's worth mentioning that we are currently in a double XP weekend for Gears 2. While you surely know the drill by now from the many Call of Duty 4 XP events, here's a refresher: from now until Monday at 9:00 a.m. EDT, all public matches will net you twice the experience points. And if this specific third-person shooter isn't your cup of tea, the Friday Night Fights crew will be playing a wide variety of other games as per usual. Look for tonight's hosts after the jump.

Friday Night Fights has got some stiff competition for your attention this week; I can feel it already. There's Star Trek, of course, as well as school, which seems to be coming to an end for many of you, and that means final exams. Yuck. I recommend everyone do what I always do and follow this trusty procrastination flowchart. Studying? Pfft, you can put that off for another night. Friends trying to drag you to a movie? Fake your own death using killer beavers and a mannequin so they stop bugging you for once. So, what do you say? Videogames: shall we play them?

What was this week like in terms of game releases? There were a few good titles, definitely, but were any of them suitable for Friday Night Fights use? Of course not. So, once again, it looks like we're going to be playing the same old same old. But that's perfectly fine, because the Destructoid staff has recently gotten back into Street Fighter IV due to a rekindled rivalry between Nick Chester and Brad Nicholson. Three cheers for not having to spend money that most of us don't have! For those who keep their eyes glued to the community blogs section, you most likely saw the first press release on the epic Chester vs Nicholson showdown, but we've actually got a special second PR located beyond the jump. Trust me, you won't want to miss it.

Hooray! The Left 4 Dead Survival Pack is out, and it's way more fun than it ought to be! Plus, it's absolutely free. I think you all know what that means. Friday Night Fights + Survival Mode + Dead Air/Death Toll in Versus = a match made in heaven. Personally, I have yet to even touch the new campaign additions to Versus, because I've become obsessed with trying to obtain gold medals. So far, not once have any of my teams made it past the "two tanks at once, OMG F'ING RUN!" mark, unfortunately. For anyone who's played the majority of the Survival maps, which is your favorite? I'd have to go with the hospital; it's a ridiculous choice, I know.

This is probably the wrong channel for this sort of question, but I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this any more. Actually, scratch that -- for the first time in quite a while, the weather isn't complete sh*t here in Michigan, and I'm not mad at all. It was an honest mistake. But I am curious to hear what you guys think about the Resident Evil 5 Versus mode DLC that Capcom put out a few weeks back. It's hard to tell if the the lack of discussion about it on Destructoid is indicative of the premium download's success or failure, so I thought I would pop the question here of all places. Personally, I love Mercenaries, and I'd love to have that shared experience with more than one other person at a time. My concern is that RE5 simply isn't suited for competitive multiplayer, and it seems like many people are wondering the same thing, yet none of us have had the cojones to try it for ourselves.

It's been a tedious week for gaming news, and with today being Good Friday, things aren't about to speed up any time soon. Because a greater portion of my time is spent talking about videogames than actually playing them, it's pleasant to be able to clock out early and spend the rest of my day in a digital world. It's practically become tradition that when you post an image of Jesus on the Internet, it has to depict Christ as a raptor or a zombie, or somehow relate to either of those two themes. I attempted to find an image in the former category that you hopefully haven't seen before, which is why it doesn't directly relate to Good Friday. It's pretty damned glorious if I do say so myself. Check after the break for this evening's Friday Night Fights hosts. Reminder for FNF virgins: simply contact the host with a friendly message stating you'd like an invite to the room, and that's basically it.

There's nothing quite like a good online rivalry to keep you pumping hundreds of hours into a single game. It's sad in the eyes of some, sure, but most of us would label it as dedication. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not talking about neglecting your newborn or anything -- but there's a certain indescribable feeling you get from getting utterly lost in a videogame. Although Friday Night Fights was much more competitive in its infancy, we have since transitioned into a "let's just have a good time playing games that may or may not be fueled by alcohol" mindset. But it's always nice to switch things up, which is exactly what the two Destructoid Killzone 2 clans, Alpha and Beta, are doing. The screen above is from their battle against one another last week, and you can view the full replay here or alternatively read Takeshi's recap if you've got something against blue and orange dots. Check after the jump for tonight's FNF hosts.

Decap Attack had its own comic? Huh. I guess you're bound to learn something new every day if roughly eighty percent of your typical day entails constant Internet surfing. Anyway, last week -- as many of you know -- was Destructoid's Gears of War 2 community night. I'm not sure how experienced some of you are in the ways of hosting online events, but the second the word "prizes" is uttered, things get beyond hectic. But when I say "hectic," I don't mean "bad"; far from it, actually. Besides the fact that I'm still getting friend requests from people who don't realize the community event took place last week and has been over since then, getting to play with a bunch of Dtoiders and Gears 2 fans alike was entirely more epic than I ever thought possible. Also, some guy who had to attend a baseball game and couldn't make it sent us a voice message telling us how we were going to give his friend a prize. Note: he didn't ask, or even demand, for that matter -- he flat out told us that's how it was going to go down. You've got some serious balls, kid. Hit the jump for your FNF hosts for today.

Alright, so as many of you know, we have got some tasty Gears of War 2-related swag to hand out this evening. In all honestly, I expect nothing less than utter madness as large quantities of dedicated Gears players and Dtoiders alike try to get in our room, so don't say you weren't warned. However, we will be trying our best to give as many people as possible the opportunity to win swag tonight from 10:00 to 1:00 EST, which means perseverance will be key. If you haven't the slightest idea what I'm talking about, go read up on the specifics. It's also worth mentioning that our PlayStation 3 crew has split up the Destructoid Killzone 2 clan into two separate and rival groups: Alpha and Beta. Wish them luck as they fight to the death late into the night.
